Thank you for adding the obit to Bertha Johnson May's memorial. This means a lot to me to have this document.

MOCOUNTRYBOY JACK--I am guilty of leaving flowers everywhere I go. What probably got me to Elizabeth's memorial had to be my following trails of ancestors out of SCOTT COUNTY VIRGINIA. My apologies for not knowing exactly how I got there or my exact relationship, if any?
I am a descendant of SCOTT COUNTY and am obsessed with F*A*G and have ended up following kin out of Scott County, often towards the coal mines of Kentucky and possibly Russell Co. My quest started 21 years ago when I was trying to understand why I was born in Oregon and raised in Idaho but my father's family are all out of Scott Co, VIRGINIA and the area including Lee, Hawkins, Hancock, and Sullivan Counties(TN) I have a list, BOOK SIZE, now of relatives that moved west to Idaho and Oregon that is about 200 names. Any Clapp go that way??
I am also the secretary of the Scott County Historical Society (SCHS) here:http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~vaschs2/
working with Kenny Stallard and Fred Carter, both active in genealogy and F*A*G. I just get started working a family name one evening and before I know it I am making ties in other counties and states. Hope that hleps. Please let me know if there anything i can do.

I know you had not requested this headstone but while I was in this cemetery thought I would photo what I could. I found this Sykes and followed the "owner" of memorial. Thought you might want to know it's up now.

Hi, no I wasn't aware of the reunions.
|Maggi||Marcellus/ Talitha Jane Moss update|
I recently wrote you about the fabulous picture on the memorial of Talitha Jane Moss of she and her husband. Here is an update. I sent away for the actual death certificate for our Marcellus Moss. The informant is listed as his wife, "Jane" Moss, whom I believe to be Talitha Jane. So I am betting that in that photo, it really is Marcellus Moss, not "R." Moss :)

Thanks SO much for checking. My husband's mother was the only child of an only child, so old photos like that are like GOLD to us.
Marcellus Moss married first Nancy Rogers in 1846 and my husband's maternal 2x great grandmother Nancy was their daughter. Nancy Rogers Moss died in 1862. According to bible pages we have, he married a Julia Chambers in 1863, but not very many folks have her in their trees and I cannot find when Julia died. In the bible it says that John "Leonard" Moss was the son of Julia and Marcellus and on John's death info from California, it states his mother's maiden name was Chambers. By 1880, Marcellus had left Missouri and was living in California, now married to Talitha. I believe you are correct that Marcellus and Talitha had no children.
Anxious to hear if that man in pic is really Marcellus! Take care,

|Maggi||Re: Talitha Warren Moss|
My husband is a 3x great-grandson of Marcellus Moss, who according to records, was married to a woman by the name of Talitha by 1880 (1880 and 1900 Census). I noticed you put a picture of Talitha on Find-A-Grave and at the bottom of the picture, it is written "R.Moss." Do you think there is any chance that this was supposed to be "M. Moss", for Marcellus?? I'd love to know as we have no pictures of our Marcellus and it would be wonderful to know. His daughter, Nancy Moss Woodward Hendricks is my husband's 2x great-grandmother.
Thanks for any information you might have.
