FAG has changed its policy regarding member copyright. Though I don't like that they did not continue to protect the copyright of their contributors in regards to Ancestry.com usage there is not much I can do about it. I STILL retain copyright to my photos and do not give permission for them to be republished in any form. That means NO to FamilySearch, that means NO to your personal webpage, that means NO to any other use by you other than attaching to your private family tree in your private family tree files on your computer. You may not use my photos to publish your book, send to family etc.

Whether you understand or agree with me about this matter or not, I have the right to make that choice for my work. I will not argue copyright with you.

***Transfer Request Rules LINK***
Please use the edit tab at the top right of the memorial you are referring to when sending updates, links and transfer requests.
(Please take the time to read the transfer request rules by following the link above). For the most part, I adhere to the transfer guidelines. I do NOT add link to a burial unknown memorial. This is FINDAGRAVE folks! Not "List Everyone Who Ever Died"!

NOTE: FAG FAQ say not to add cut and paste obituaries. In trying to comply with this rule I have turned down adding obituaries that have been sent to me. It has become apparent that FAG is adding these obits when people send them to edit@. Since FAG admins are adding I will too. Remove the names of the living before sending the obituary per FAG's "other" rule and the obituary must have attribution too.

NOTE 2: Before there was a rule against it. I added many obituary scans to memorials from our local newspaper from the early 1900. I have now attempted to go back and transcribe all of these into the bio area. Unfortunately it is very difficult to find ones that are not on my own memorials. If you find one please bring it to my attention and I will transcribe it and send it to the memorial manager. Thank you for your help.

Obits
I have done some extensive research in regard to Obit and the newspaper's claiming copyrights on an obit.

This is a very questionable stance, DUE to the fact that the OBIT was NOT written by the newspaper, it was written by FAMILY of the deceased, so the copyright of said Obit belongs to the family. If this copyright law applied to everything in a newspaper, the owners of those paper would HAVE to get permission from every article written by a journalist and/or editor, when they desired to reference a previous article.

I do believe in eliminating living children, however one has to laugh at today's 'tech' by the shear fact that one CAN and DO get information on many living people and children through the use of social internet. Cheers and Happy Day

RE: RE photo requests at Darrington cemetery
I have also seen memorials that have two different sets of information. I didn't know what to do with them so I just left them. Do you think that someone will fix them at Find A Grave? I am new to Find A Grave I don't know the politics or dynamics of what they do or don't do

RE: Thank you for your attempt to get a photo
Like I was saying it makes me really sad that they won't help find a grave. Thank you for adding a notation there for people not call them and get the same response I did.
She suggested I call the family but I don't feel comfortable doing that.

RE photo requests at Darrington cemetery
Hi....I walked the cemetery and was unable to locate any of the people you had requested photos for. When I contacted the City Hall...who holds the records for the cemetery this is the response I got.... "Due to the very sensitive nature of information you are requesting we recommend going through the family members. We have recently had issues with Find A Grave with the deceased and improper, vulgar and inappropriate information being posted on this site. We will not be affiliated what so ever with information that is intended for this site, therefore we will only give out information to family members that request it personally. Thank you for your understanding".

Sorry.....It makes me sad to think that someone "out there" did or said something so bad to offend her

.

Long-lost great-grandmother
Chuck,
May we please email privately about someone you have found who may be the long-lost grandmother for whom I have searched for 28 years? There is a sensitive issue in this case.
If you can, please email me at chandlerbarb@suddenlink.net.

Thank you so very much.

RE: McShane/McShann/McShan family
Thanks. Yes, spelling is really a phonic thing in a lot of instances. I know the Turnham's, McShann's and Smith's were from Texas so they probably had an accent as well :) Pretty interesting that that extended family migrated from Central Texas to Spokane Washington at the turn of the 1900's. So horrible to met with such tragedy at the start. I have been doing an Ancestry tree to trace the family and found that part are buried in Tacoma, Washington and Fairmount Memorial Park in Spokane.

On the McShann, if you look at the phone/resident directory for the years they lived there. It was spelled John McShan and McShann but never McShane. His wife the same Maggie McShan to Margaret McShann in later years. "Turnham" is the correct spelling for her maiden name.

Thanks for helping on the search! When I photograph a cemetery I have to make sure the babies 'find' their parents!

RE: Ferrell
I would love to touch base. I believe I may have a few photos that belonged to your father. Was your mother Anna? The sisters married the brothers, which one of those couples were my great grandparents.
