Could you please transfer the management of this memorial to me? He's my great-uncle. Thanks!

RE: Peter Erb Sr
Hi Lynn, this gets more mysterious every day! From what I am able to put together, Peter Erb Jr.
(1738-1774) had children that were still minors when he died. I am assuming that his wife Judith and his father Peter Sr (b. 1712) and his brother Christopher (b. 1748) all assisted in raising these children. My guess is that this 1790 house was built for them (which would explain the J ERB as being John Erb, son of Peter Jr, having been carved into the date stone). John Erb was, at the time, the oldest of Peter Erb Sr's grandsons, having been born around 1762, and probably the heir. After Christopher Erb's son, the Peter Erb born in 1770, married Barbara Groff, the 1799 house was built, maybe as a wedding gift for them. I can't locate any type of death record for Peter Erb Sr (b. 1712) so he may very well have lived in that 1790 house with his son Peter Jr's children well into the late 1790's. If I find anything, I will let you know.

Peter Erb Sr
Hi Lynn, I live in Maryland and have recently learned that the National Register of Historical Places contains documents indicating that Peter Erb Sr had a house built in 1790 and it is listed on the Register along with his farm. You can go here:
to obtain information and photo's about the house and farm. NOTE: this house is not the Christopher Erb house (also on the Register) but it is on the same property. Since Peter Erb Sr was alive in 1790 in order to have built this house, he DID NOT die in 1778, as indicated here on Find-A-Grave. Whoever did the research obviously became confused because the son, Peter Erb Jr, who died in 1774, had a Last Will and Testament filed at the Court House on TWO different occasions: 16 March 1774 and 26 October 1778. Someone must have assumed that the 1778 Will was the Will of Peter Sr, but it is not; the Wills are identical, with Judith Erb as the administrator. The Wills and Inventories have been scanned and can be found the site under the Special Collections titled "Maryland Register of Wills Records 1629-1999."

RE: Thomas Hayes
Dear Lynn,
I had most of the information the same as you. I come from the Alma Hayes line. I had Thomas as Thomas J. Hayes up until about a year ago, I also had his birth place and everything as you stated, as that is how I have always seen it. Then someone one kept sending a message and said that he had proven that Thomas's middle initial was not J. He told me to look at the LDS family history site and I could see this for myself. They had changed the information on there also. If you look through the notes and what not there is some information there. I finally wrote him back and said that I would change it but I would not take the J out, wish is why I listed him as both. If you look at the family history site and still question it as I have then send me a message back and I will turn his memorial over to you and let you change it back to what it had originally. You and I had talked about this line a few years back as I recall. (That was before I kept getting asked to change it.)
Let me no what you decide,
