Bio Photo Thank you so much to those who have left memorials, flowers and kind words for my loved ones. Your thoughtfulness is greatly appreciated.
For many years I've been an avid genealogist. Having sites like this and ancestry.com has enabled me to dig up information on almost every side of my family tree, learning things I'd never have known as well as meeting distant family members who would otherwise have remained unknown. It's an adventure I enjoy for myself as well as sharing what I know with others who are also searching for their roots.

RE: Johann Toews
Thank you Tim. On thinking about it just now, I'm thinking maybe it could be Gretna. I will have to go into the letters I received from my source, and just maybe I may have it there. Sorry to take up your time, but thank you.

Johann Toews
I am looking for the grave of Johann, or John Toews. His second wife, Agatha Loewen was my aunt, but she is buried in Riverside cemetery in Morden. I do not have his birthdate, but he was some years older than my aunt, who was born in 1888. I really don't remember him, so he may have died in the late 30' or 40's. Is there any way that you could help me find out. His late son-in-law said he was buried in Altona, which is pretty much all that I know at this point.

Thanking you in advance.

Zimmerman Schlegel Family
Magdalena Schlegel Zimmerman is my husband's great grandmother. We were able to visit the Mennonite Cemetery in Edna Mills, Indiana this past weekend. It is a well kept cemetery on top of a small hill in the countryside in case you don't live in this state. It was such an honor to leave flowers on little Mary's grave. She is their grandchild. That you for all you do!

fletchall family
I'm trying to figure out my Willis family through looking at families that were associated with them as opposed to all the other Willises in MO. My family (Willis/Cates) are buried in Fletchall Cemetery in Worth County MO, then I find a person I am sure is also my family (Catherine Chipman) in Wyandotte Co KS where there is a Fletchall. I find only 3 Fletchalls in the U.S. in 1810, so would sure like to know where, when and why they became close. If you know anything whatsoever about a Willis family I would like to hear from you.

After I added your edits I received a message saying the parents were not correct. I deleted my memorial as I don't know what is correct and I am not related. Thanks, hope you can figure it out.

RE: Schlegal family in Union Cemetery
Interesting. the 1880 census taker probably assumed they were all born in France. I'd go with the church records. Thx for your kind note.

Schlegal family in Union Cemetery
I'm so glad you found the information useful. I found this cemetery a few years ago and there were almost no photos, so I took a bunch. I added a few pieces of info when I found many lived near one another when the 1880 census was done. That makes sense -- they are in this somewhat remote cemetery because they lived near there.

I no longer live in Iowa, so doubt I'll be back there. Good luck in your search.

RE: Con. Schlegel-Sidney, NE Boot Hill
I don't know anything more than what was listed on the signs at Boot Hill Cemetery. I understand that information was gathered by volunteers from courthouse records, newspapers, and the library. You might want to stop by for a look. Come on out I76 to Sterling, and then to Sidney, about 40 miles more. BTW, my first roommate at C.U. was a Schlegel.
