Garland/Smith
I noticed your message on Hilt Field Garland memorial page and would appreciate any information you could furnish. My husband Cletis Smith's grandfather was Johnson and Catherine Messer Smith parents of Sallie Garland who married Willis Garland. buried in the Garland Cemetery at Gray Knox Co. Ky. memorial #93009763. I need help in finding their marriage and children. I have searched the 1930 and 1940 census plus marriage records in Ky. with no luck. Did they live outside the state for a while. I recorded their two children buried in the same cemetery. Waiting for your reply Thanks.

Smallwood/Stewart
Hey Vicky,
My brother married a Sarah Smallwood. She died of cancer after losing I think both legs. She's buried in Gray Cemetery.
My 2nd Cousin Brenda Lynn Robertson married James C. Stewart Jr.. She was killed by a drunk driver on her way to work as a lab tech in Phoenix, Arizona in 1991 (I think). J.C. died of cancer in Phoenix few years ago. Both are Corbin connections. I was born there as well. I wish I still lived there. I went to school with a Shelia Garland; don't know much about her history except she and her mother moved there from somewhere. Lionel Brock was married to my cousin and had 3 or 4 children. Lionel was from Corbin too. He died in Georgia. If any of these names ring any bells, let me know.

Arthur Garland
I noticed that you had posted an "ancestor in my family tree" icon on Arthur Garland's page. I am his daughter and am having a difficult time finding Garland family information. Would you mind letting me know how he is related to you? I have been trying for over ten years to figure out who his father, Captain Garland's, parents were. Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Wiley Garland
I have found a death certificate on Wiley saying that his father is Isaac Garland, also from Claiborne TN. Do you know anything about that?

Sorry I don't have any information up, I will try and add some. I am new to this so I'm still learning. It's nice to meet you as well! Glad I found you! I live in Knox county Kentucky. I can see if I can find anything out for you as well. My Mamaw Rosey Aline is a Garland. Her father was Sam Garland. Sam's father was Noah...and Noah's father was Wiley. I'm trying to find out as much information that I can. Thanks for all your help!

Family
Vicky,

Sorry. I just discovered that my Simpson Family Cemetery is in Mozelle. I don't know if it's even known publicly. However the info on Simpson's is all correct. Just the name is the same. More than likely our Simpson's are related as Violet's 2nd husband (Simpson) was born in that area. I didn't know there were 2 cemeteries with the same name.

By the way Violet's grandaughter by daughter Phyllis Sumner Brock, died in Corbin not long ago. her bio is on here. her name was Connie Marie Brock Roaden.

Hey Vicky,

Small World !! I was just looking at your added list. WOW!! Simpson's Family Cemetery in Leslie County, Kentucky. My Mothers's half-sister Violet Lenore Robertson Sumner Simpson and is buried in that same Cemetery. She and her husband owned that land. We (my family) use to go visit them a lot. I have Pictures of Violet and some of her children. Some of your other added my half sister (Hudson) is related to. I can't remember all the names of your added , but our family is related to some of them. Violet also has twin baby boys buried there and probably her husband (Simpson) too. I don't Know about her 1st husband (Sumner) though. Did you know that land had it's own coal mine on it? Wish I has Violet's obituary. My mother wanted it too. Violet had a brother Virgil Lee Robertson who is buried in Rest Haven Cemetery as well as his wife Lorene McVey and Daughter Brenda Lynn Robertson Stewart.
Just thought you'd like to know about the Simpson's.

RE: Radford
Hi Vicky,
I've updated my Grandfather's bio to answer most of your questions. My GGrandmother Frances (Francis) Catherine Allen Radford was born in Indiana I believe. She was working as a waitress when my GGrandfather Griffin P. Theobald met her and married. As for who her parents were I haven't a clue. I would love to know that information. As for my Grandfather Frank; he was the last one of the children to go to the orphanage in Louisville, Kentucky. His first child with my Grandmother Sarah Jane was James who was born in Corbin in 1926. My mother Frances (Francis) was born in New Albany, Indiana in 1927. Finly in Flat Lick in 1930. The last was Betty in 1932 or 1933 (I think) in Corbin. For the relatives on the Theobald, there are none in Corbin nor have been to my knowledge. But who really knows? Of my mother's children, half were born in Corbin. One of my sister's father Eugene Glenn Hudson was born and also died and is buried in Rest Haven Cemetery in Corbin. My maiden name is Gilreath My 1st born son Robert Lee Hollingsworth is buried in Hopewell Cemetery in Corbin. My grandparents Frank & Sarah Theobald are buried in Pine Hill Cemetery close to the fence at the entrance on Master Street.
I'm finding many relatives in the Corbin area that I never knew I was even related to and even went to school with. After I got deeply into genealogy ; it actually scared me. By the grace of God, I didn't marry someone I was related to. I could easily have married a relative due to the many relatives in the way of cousins I never knew about; not just in Corbin, but also many of the other states as well. I hope all this helps.
