Bio and Links
Bio Photo This photo was taken in 1968 as a high school student working on a tiny graveyard restoration project. My family genealogy has been an intense 14+ year study and has led me back to circa 1755 London. Many folks have been kind enough to assist me in the tedious but rewarding research project. Contributing to Find-A-Grave is my way of giving back and paying forward.

I believe that a memorial belongs with the family and loved ones to cherish and maintain. My mission is to be cooperative with others doing research and I am more than willing to transfer memorials I have created.
*** When photographing a memorial, I do not alter it's condition. I take them as I find them!

"I think most people can do a whole awful lot more if they just try, ... They just don't have the confidence that they can write a novel or they can write poetry or they can take pictures or paint or whatever, and so they don't do it, and they leave the planet dissatisfied with themselves."
quote from Gordon A. Parks, Sr. 1912-2006

Harrison E Vreeland
Harrison E. Vreeland does not appear in the Green-Wood Cemetery database either online or at the public computer at the cemetery's front gate. In order to fulfill this request a location is needed. [Section and Lot numbers.]

Please contact the cemetery 718-768-7300 or

Harrison E. Vreeland may have been removed to another location or he may have been interred at Greenwood Union Cemetery in Rye, NY.

RE: Joel Johns
Hi Louise, I have no real proof. Upon more scrutiny, I see that nobody listed in that cemetery goes back as far as the Joel Johns who was my 5th great grandfather. I have him married to Donitia Bruce. I see there are some Bruces in that cemetery as well. Sorry to have troubled you. I'll keep looking.

Loretta & Mary Monks
The onsite office does not keep records of burials earlier than 2010. I searched the old burial area for the Monks but could not find them. The onsite office advised that someone needs to go to the church on Main street and they should have the records. I did not have time to go to the church.

RE: Sarah Elizabeth
I am not convinced that Sarah is Bettie Fowlkes Hudgins and Barney is Branch. Could be, or there could be Bettie born 1867, or 1867 is error. I am not sure there r death records for 1907 at LVA but I will check, tomorrow

Richard Phillip Heartwell
I imagine that Richard Phillip Heartwell, spouse of Laura Rose Heartwell, is buried on his farm or in a family plot and that explains why he is not buried with his wife and rest of the family members. He died during a period where Virginia was not keeping keeping death records.

RE: Heartwell
Hello Louise,
I have submitted some edits to you for approval pertaining to memorials posted for Marie Heartwell Keeton, Anna Bourdon Heartwell, George Harrison Heartwell, and Richard Carter Heartwell. All the submitted edits are taken from their death certificates. I have the certificate numbers in my files.

RE: Heartwell
Sounds good. I always think that it is good to leave it up to future genealogists or historians to sort conflicting information out. Good job.
We lived next door to W. P. Heartwell when I was growing up. He and his wife, Sadie, were great friends and neighbors.

The informant on Laura Heartwell's death certificate was W. P. Heartwell, her son.
