Everyone deserves to be remembered.

My goal is to photograph all the cemeteries in Floyd County Iowa. When I photograph the grave of someone I've known during my lifetime I take a moment to remember them. Some I haven't thought about in years and it's like "Wow, I remember you" and all the special things about that person pop into my head.
----------
I want to give a shout out to my son for going with me to the cemeteries and helping to take photos. It's very much appreciated.

If you find that I am managing a memorial for a close family member and you want to manage it, just let me know and I will happy to transfer it to you.

Please feel free to use the photo that I have added to a family member's memorial for your personal use. Please do NOT add my photos to other fag memorials without giving proper credit to me.
-------------
If anyone would care to make a small donation to the St. Charles/Riverside Cemetery for their gravestone cleaning and restoration project it would be most appreciated as it is a non-profit cemetery.

Donations can be sent to the Riverside Cemetery Association at 59 Riverside Drive, Charles City, Iowa 50616. Please indicate that it is for the gravestone and restoration project.

Perhaps Maine friends with the recently-widowed Mary Stanchfield. Bad year for Mary. Thanks for considering this mystery.

Find A Grave Memorial# 57844488
This memorial is in Bloods Cemetery, Boone County IL for an 'Unknown Stanchfield'. As it happens, this grave is in Plot 67, where other Dean family are buried..

The Stanchfields we are researching were also from Maine, so I'm wondering if you know the name as part of your own family search. How did this Stanchfield happen to be buried in the same plot with the Dean family. We belive this is Amos Stanchfield, a young boy of about 10-12 years of age--the son of Mary and her recently-deceased husband, Benjamin Stanchfield, who had land nearby. This family eventually made their way to St. Anthony MN and even later to Montana Territory.

Thanks for any help.

Memorial transfer
Respectfully request transfer of my Great grandmother memorial 133878067 Lena Vorhes. I'm combining both memorials together. I have add her parents, husband and correct name. I'm finding to many duplicates so I just combine them. Thanks

Duplicate memorials for my Great Grandmother Evelina "Lena" Brunner Vorhes
Memorial#: 95876459 Evelina "Lena" Brunner Vorhes created by: DM Scott 2012 maintained by me is the correct memorial for my Great Grandmother.

Memorial #: 133878067 Lena Vorhes created by: Chris 2014 is a duplicate.

May of my family use nicknames on their stone instead of their birth name which makes it confusing.

You and DM Scott have done a great job with my family's memorials. Over 95% of Hillside and West Side Cemeteries in Marble Rock is my family to include my Mother, Father, 2 Brothers--who passed to young.

I'd appreciate your assistance in the duplication of my Great Grandmother's memorial.

Thanks

I came across an obituary that may interest you:

Article from The Buffalo Center Tribune
September 13, 1900

Orra L., son of Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Hawn, was born in Floyd county, Iowa, on September 18, 1892, and died September 7, 1900; aged 7 years, 11 months and 19 days.
Orra was next to the youngest child and was obedient and thoughtful, giving his parents very little trouble. He met his death by a kick from a horse on last Friday; he was running along past the horses as they were drinking at the well and startled one of them which kicked very viciously, striking the boy in the right side, the force of the blow knocking him about twenty feet. The doctor was summoned in all haste, but before he arrived little Orra had passed into the great beyond. Upon examination by the doctor it was found that beside internal rupture, his spinal column was fractured.
After a prayer service held at the house in which Rev. McNeal of this place and Rev. Matthis of Germania participated, the remains were taken to Ledyard and shipped to Marble Rock for burial. The funeral service was held in the M.E. church at Marble Rock at 11 o'clock Sunday morning and the remains were interred in the family lot in the cemetery at that place.

In memory of my Dear Schoolmate Orra

There stood beside a grassy mound
A little casket fair
And many gazed as if the bloom
Of Eden withered there

A little casket short and fair
Receivied a sigh from all
For in it dear Orry lay
His parents loved so well

I saw his mother at the head
Like mother stood in grief
And every parental tear she shed
It seemed to give relief

They raised the little casket lid
That hid him from her view
And bending over the casket lid
She gazed her last adieu

Oh mother, weep not for your child
Angels for him was sent
He was a flower here on earth
Not given only lent
