I grew up in Anderson, Indiana and my mother grew up in Lapel. I have been working on the Hersberger and Stottlemyer lines. I also have great-grandparents who were Commons, Moore, Norris, Stiner, Gaver, Huntzinger, Anderson in the Lapel area. Many came from Frederick County, Maryland and I've done some research there. Through my father's side I am a member of the Indiana Society of Civil War Families. My great-grandfather fought with the 54th Indiana at Vicksburg and his only two brothers were killed in the Civil War. The more research I do, the more Civil War connections I have found although only the one direct ancestor.

I live in Oregon now so all of my research is from a long distance.
