Doris Brooks
Memorial #75203189.

There was an earlier memorial (#66434152) created for her as Doris Thompson. Doris Thompson shares a grave marker with Clyde Thompson (memorial #66434144).

On the grave marker, just below 'Doris' and just above '1922-1989,' it says 'BROOKS 12-16-1979.'

So I am wondering if 12-16-1979 is when a second husband named Brooks died and if maybe he is buried with Doris and Clyde.

I plan to visit the office for the Clovis cemeteries Tuesday and will ask Rodney or Skyler about it.

I did add photos of the grave marker to memorial #75203189.

Birth year for Josephine Johnson
Though it says "1864" on her birth year engraved on the tombstone, it appears Josephine E. Casey Bedwell Johnson was born in April 1855 according to 1900 census information when she was enumerated in Lamar Co., Texas with her second husband, Elihue L. Johnson (m Dec 1882). The earlier birth year is further supported by the 1860 census in Cherokee Co., Alabama, where Josephine was shown as age 4 in the household of her father, Barnabas Casey (Casy on the census). So, if alive in 1860 she couldn't have been born in 1864.

I suspect her first husband, a Bedwell, was the son of Leroy Calvin Bedwell, Robert Lee Bedwell b 1855, the same year as Josephine. Robert was shown as divorced in the 1880 Alabama census, though Josephine is shown in 1880 as "married" with her young daughter, enumerated in the h/h of Barnabas Casey, by then in Lamar Co., Texas. Maybe Josephine was actually divorced but the enumerator entered "married" in error. Later, Robert married Janie Owens. The Bedwells, Caseys and Morrisons, as you likely know, were intertwined.

If anyone has knowledge of Elihue L. Johnson's origins in Mississippi, I keep drawing blanks. Any help?

Never a problem! We all stay busy with normal activities and life and 'get there' as we can. Totally understandable.

Have a wonderful weekend!

RE: Thanks for the information
Oh, Casey, right?

Andrew Morrison's Will:

And in the 1880 census for Barnabas Casey in Lamar County, Texas, we find a 23 year old Sarah E living with Barnabas Casey and his son, Drury. In 1870, the Caseys and the Morrisons were both living in Cherokee County, AL.

We also find Josephine Bedwell in that census. I have a Morrison married to a Bedwell, by the way. It's possible that Josephine is Squire Bedwell's daughter if the dates are off on the census. Even though he had 15 children, he wasn't the only Bedwell begetting in Cherokee County, AL.

This is embarrassing. The Morrison branch has several Sarah Elizabeths, and I can't remember which one I was talking about. Who did this one marry?
