Bio and Links
Bio Photo Retired elementary teacher who is really "into family genealogy" and enjoys helping others with research. Enjoy fishing with my husband and being with 5 grandchildren who are involved in sports. Keeps us busy. Please feel free to use any of the photos I take on your family tree or copy them if you choose. You do not have to "give me credit" and don't have to use my name. It is an honor to volunteer to do this and hopefully helps others as much as it has helped me.
Note for 2014 - I have finished taking pictures at Fairmount Cemetery in Cape Girardeau and placed them on the memorial pages. Some tombstones were not "readable" so 100% is impossible. New comment: As of October 2014 all of New Lorimier has been photographed. I am still working on updating and adding information. I want to say a BIG THANK YOU to John Hinkle who originated most of these cemetery memorial pages. He has done a tremendous service to our community. And thank you to Mr. Weaver at the city cemetery office for all his help. Without him, these pictures would not have been possible.
2015 - A big thanks to Mr. Jim Crites at the city cemetery office for providing pictures of burials at New Lorimier and Fairmount. He has been so helpful and it means a lot to those searching for their family.
2017 Though I have slowed down a lot due to old age, several of us are attempting to photograph Old Lorimier. If you want to help, please contact me or the cemetery office.

RE: Hot Springs City Cemetery
The Archaeologist with the state and a group of volunteers with the archaeology society (and me, who knows nothing about archaeology) are working at the cemetery now to "map it"(find everything on the surface. This has been going on for months. The city bush hogged it at the beginning of last summer, then in November hired a herd of goats to get what had grown back. There are only 2-3 broken tombstones from 1902, and 2 metal funeral home markers found on the "surface" but no telling what is under the years of debris which has not been cleaned up yet. There are no plans currently for the cemetery's continued upkeep. The archaeologist will submit a report to the state of what they find, but nothing for sure after that. We have a page "Restore the Old City Cemetery" on facebook with a lot of pictures.

Cora Hartle Zoellner
Ruth,

I see you also have my great grandmother list on your page. Cora Hopkins was married to Sylvester Hartle after Joseph Zoellner passed. She is buried with Joseph, which you have the headstone photo.

Ruth,

Thank you the transfer. I was going by what the death certificate stated. I'm pleased that you had corrected this for me.

RE: Thelma Smith
Ruth, finally fixed the pictures for Thelma and Truett. Sad when a 12 year old has to show you how to fix them.

Ruth,

I see two listed but when I click on one it says it has been merged. Not sure how to remove it. If you want to transfer that would be nice but don't feel that you have too.

RE: Ethel Bye
Hello Ruth:

I have changed my memorial for Ethel Bye 76571303 from Cape Girardeau City Cemetery to Fairmount. I did have in my notes on ancestry.com that the City Cemetery was also known as Fairmount. I have a copy of Ethel's death ctf. and it says City Cemetery. So...I guess when I went to add it to Find A Grave, the City Cemetery must have pulled up?? I also had in my notes on ancestry.com that she had no marker but may be buried in the "Babyland" section of the cemetery.

Thank you for clarifying this. You can delete your memorial for Ethel (114276444). All of the family links are on my memorial. Thank you!! Karen Harrison in Florida.
