|Paul Harty||Thomas English|
Thomas English, buried in the Oak Ridge Cemetery, located in what used to be Zadock, Missouri, is in my direct line. His father is Robert English and his mother is known only as Mary. Robert's father is Thomas English and his mother is Jane Wicker. His 2nd great grandfather was Thomas William English
The Thomas English buried in the Oak Ridge Cemetery, located in the old town of Zadock, Stoddard County did not have a middle name, or if he did it would have probably have been William, as his grandfather Thomas English, husband of Jane wicker, was known as Thomas William English. Thomas English, born on 3 February 1806 was the great grandson of Thomas William English and Mary Elizabeth Draper. This Thomas William English was the son of Sir Thomas English of Ireland.
Or if Thomas English of 1806 were to be listed properly, in order, from the oldest to the youngest, it would appear thusly:
Sir Thomas English
Thomas English and his wife, Mary Elizabeth Draper
Thomas English and his wife, Jane Wicker
Robert English and his wife, Mary
Thomas English and his wife, Louisa Brooks
There is a possibility that Thomas English of 3 February 1806 married a second wife by the name of Louisa Hayden, as two entries are noted in the Cape Girardeau County Wedding notices. However, there is no indication of this being recorded in the Lewis or English histories, that I am aware of, and I can assure you that I have searched and searched for any connections!
Thomas English and his wife Louisa Brooks are the parents of:
l) Mary Elizabeth English
2) Caroline M. English
3) Francis M. English
4) Andrew Jackson English
5) Delila P. English
6) Nicy Evaline English
7) Solomon H. English
8) Matthew Holly English
Andrew Jackson English served in the 8th Missouri Cavalry Regiment, in Company A and B with his brother-in-law, Joseph Guild Lewis, who married Andrew's sister, Nicy Evaline English. Solomon H. English served in the 2nd Missouri Cavalry regiment, but would probably served with his brothers in the 8th Missouri Cavalry Regimen if he had not been murdered, as a prisoner in chains, by a Union Captain. Matthew Holly English served with Second Lieutenant Joseph Guild Lewis in the 8th Missouri Cavalry Regiment of the Confederate States of America and Matthew was killed in Wittsburgh, Arkansas during a battle, while serving in the 8th Missouri Cavalry.
This is a summarized line of decent from Thomas English.
Thomas English and Louisa Brooks
Nicy Evaline English and Joseph Guild Lewis
George Launius Lewis and Mary Elena Brewer
Simeon English Lewis and Katie Cordelia Mason
Celesta Izella Lewis and Paul Hampton Harty Sr.
Paul Hampton Harty Jr. and Carol Randolph Buckley
My Lewis family arrived in New Madrid in 1795 while the Spanish were still in control and my Harty family has in Missouri since 1818. The Lewis family arrived in what became Virginia on board the "Globe" in 1653. The Harty family arrived in Nieuw Amsterdam which became New York, in 1653 on board the "Bonte Koe". As you will note, both of my families arrived in the new world, which became America, in the same year. One side were "yankees" and one side became patriotic "rebels."
I do not want to sound overly proud of my family, both sides, and have doing genealogical research on them since my grandfather, Simeon English Lewis got me hooked away back in 1958 or 1959. Somewhere in that time zone! Seems like a long time ago, but also so short a time period in some ways! Either way, I have enjoyed doing genealogy and I have had a lot of people help me to fill out my family history, which is over 80,000 ancestors as of today.
I would like to humbly ask you to correct your entry on Thomas English, born on 3 February 1806. This Thomas English died of Cholera, while visiting the family of his daughter, Nicy Evaline (English) Lewis, wife of Joseph Guild Lewis. He was buried quickly and without much fanfare because Cholera was running rampart back then.

|A Friend||MARY POLLY CUMMINGS at ELDER|
Brent: You posted a picture for ELIZABETH CUMMINGS ELDER at Elder Cemetery, it is a very early marker at Elder. She was wife of WILLIAM PINKNEY ELDER. Her Mother Mary Polly Nelson Cummings died just months prior to Elizabeth, purportedly December 28, 1882 she would have been approximately 83 years old, did you notice or find pieces of a marker probably close to where Elizabeth Elder's grave marker was that might connect to her Mother Mary Polly Cummings ? I feel that since it was "their" cemetery at the time the Mother-In-Law of Charles P Elder would have had a marker at some time. Sure appreciate all your help.

|PJKaiser||Viola Arnold (Burke / Treat / Wilkison / Thompson|
Hi! I'm doing some research for a friend, and noticed that on your page for Melissa Fettinger Arnold, her bio makes mention of daughter Viola with all four husbands' surnames. Do you happen to know anything about Mr. Wilkison? I'm told he's "George M.", but I've been unable to find him anywhere (grave, census, marriage, death, birth). It appears he and Viola weren't married for long, but had one child (John Howard Wilkison, b. 1903). Is there any light you could shed on that?

Please transfer Mary Acord's memorial to me #47006321 or add the following to it:
Born: 2 Feb, McLeansboro, Hamilton Co., Illinois.
Died: 30 May 1925, Bernie, Stoddard Co., Missouri.
I have done extensive research on Mary Acord #25722148 and I have a lot of information about her.
She was married three times: Mr. Barnett (possibly named Mack), Jobe Acord, and Willis Blake (to whom she was married when she died).
Her daughter Ellen Acord Miller was my great aunt. Ellen was the informant on Mary's Missouri Death Certificate #17125.
Thank you, Ramona
