The glorious colors of Autumn are upon us. The leaves on the trees will blaze with scarlet, emerald, gold and deepening browns as the chill sets in. The crisp, clear nights are not only good for sleeping deeply. The Moon is most beautiful at this time of year, especially when tinged with a pale shade of yellow from the sunlight it is reflecting back into the heavens.

The Moon has been a source of inspiration for fantastic fairytales and fantasies. The soft, silvery glow brings peace when gazed upon. Take some time during this season of the harvest and the beauty available for the taking. Put aside the gadgets, the Android phone, take out the ear plugs and look upward. Listen to the rustling of the breeze in the trees or the rain falling as the Moon, ever serene, continues the nighttime journey and beckons us to be fully aware and alive in the present moment.

Happy Autumn to all. May this year's harvest bring you the fruition of all your efforts from the preceeding months.

The Harvest Moon
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, 1807 - 1882

It is the Harvest Moon! On gilded vanes
And roofs of villages, on woodland crests
And their aerial neighborhoods of nests
Deserted, on the curtained window-panes
Of rooms where children sleep, on country lanes
And harvest-fields, its mystic splendor rests!
Gone are the birds that were our summer guests,
With the last sheaves return the laboring wains!
All things are symbols: the external shows
Of Nature have their image in the mind,
As flowers and fruits and falling of the leaves;
The song-birds leave us at the summer’s close,
Only the empty nests are left behind,
And pipings of the quail among the sheaves.

EmilyAnn, Thank you so much for sponsoring the Margaret Rose Reynolds page at Calgary Cemetery. She was our oldest sister (parents first child) who passed away shortly after her birth on June 18, 1948. Mom and dad subsequently had five more children from 1949 to 1962. We now live in Illinois.

Thanks for that message Em! It has been awhile! I haven't seen his memorial for some time, as I'm avoiding a conflict of interest at the moment, but I hope to get back to it someday!
