Although an Asheville native, my genealogical bases are Yancey, Mitchell and Iredell Counties. Surnames closely related to me are Vickery, Morrison, Bradshaw, Stevenson, Gibson and Bagwell. |
I will never create a grave for anyone about whom I know nothing; if I do not have any information other than two dates I leave creation of the memorial to someone who hopefully does have it. These people deserve more on their memorials than just dates, no matter how large the cemetery!
Those who transcribe whole cemeteries without even bothering to use dates, just to boost their numbers, should be banned from the site, in my opinion. With the resources of the Internet now available, there is no excuse for such.
However, I am happy to transfer graves of any persons who are not related to me, to anyone who is related to the deceased. That said, please do not abuse this. Thanks.
PLEASE NOTE: We can NOT link parents to children! That is, we have to link children UP to parents, not link parents DOWN to children. It's just the way the site works. Please do not contact me about adding children to the parents' graves. I can't. Instead - contact the creators of the chidren's graves and ask them to link the kids UP to the parents - it is the only way to do this.
Kindly refrain from post death certs on my memorials. Photos are great, however.

|Richard McMurtry||Watts Family of Iredell Co NC|
I am trying to find the family historian that has the most complete descendancy charts for the family William Watts and his second wife Jane Reid of Rowan/Iredell Co NC. One of their daughters Sarah married Jesse Todd and went west about 1809. I am trying to prove that the Jesse Todd who came to Rutherford Co TN about 1810 was the same Jesse Todd who married Sarah Watts. To do so, I would need a 5th generation descendant of either Thomas Watts md Margaret Locke or Eleanor Reid Watts or one of their siblings.
Male DNA testing shows that there were at least two unrelated Todd families in Rowan Co - one on Swearing Creek and nearby creeks, one on Grants Creek and Dutchman Creek, and possibly a third on 4th Creek in what became Iredell Co.
There is much confusion in the early years of these families due to well intentioned guessing by family historians in the 1960s and 1970s. DNA could help us sort our the divisions and connections between these families.
Could you direct me to someone who could help me find such a descendant?
Thank you for doing this! Lorenzo Frye was my grandfather, I am his youngest grandaughter. I never met him because he died when my mom was 7 from tuberculosis. He was a traveling preacher who went all of the mountains of NC, SC, TN, and who knows where else, mostly on foot.

William C Jones Memorial# 55879193
|Sandy Lamb||Question about father|
in the Memorial# 87733065, for Elijah Hobart Owens, it is stated that his mother was Ida Stout. In the death certificate of Elijah Owens, it states that his father was John Owens, not James Ester Owens. I wonder if whomever connected the Elijah and James might have considered that his father was John Owens, brother of James? Is there anyway of knowing who put the connection in Find A Grave?
|Carl Catherman||Clarence Greene|
On Jan. 15 I used the Edit option to send a short bio to be added to his memorial. Did you receive it?
Dora M Blackburn/Ledford
She remarried to Benjamin Harrison Greene and died Mar 8 1979 in Virginia. There is a death certificate on ancestry.com for her.
|Jimmie Primo||Nathaniel Mosley|
18052918 and Eliza Wilson 18052904
|Carolyn Crabtree||Jacob Hefner|
Jacob Hefner is a direct ancestor of mine and I have been researching that family for over 40 years. I have his name as Jacob Wilhyde Hefner and have never seen Iziah before his name before. Where did you get that information?
|Alan Fradkin||Sallie Belle Watt Deal|
I left you a few emails and a few too many messages (sorry) but the above is not William Tillet Watt's daughter, could you please remove. Sallie's father was William Thomas Watt as you have control of that Find A Grave and that is where she needs to be attached too.
