Jane Ann Jett - born in Elizabethton, Carter County, Tennessee, I grew up in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, the Atomic City. I am an 8th generation Smith born in Carter County, and I'm proud of the role they and others of Carter County played in the Independence of our country and the formation of Tennessee. I am also descended from Jetts of Virginia and Kentucky, equally proud of their contributions to the settlement of the Colonies and Kentucky.|
I have pursued my genealogy for 25 years and love to connect and exchange information with cousins of all degree. I have made my home in Nashville for nearly 50 years but still miss my East Tennessee mountains and heritage.

Below is the message to which I was referring -- it was sent to Liz Member #47161149.
Your memorials for Jane Berkeley Martiau (#69156033) and her husband, Nicolas Martiau (#58965271), are incomplete and are duplicates of other, more complete memorial pages. Jane Berkeley Martiau is actually Elizabeth Jane PAGE Martiau (widow of Lt. Edward Berkeley). Her correct memorial page is #103549785. A corresponding memorial page for Capt. Nicolas Martiau is #7831230.
I'm requesting that you either delete your memorial pages for this couple, or at the least make them accurate, including a name change for Jane Page Martiau and linking them to their appropriate cemetery and grave markings.
I am a direct descendant.

so sorry I did not put the memorial numbers in my previous message! I have now filed my notes and can't find them. My memory sez that you sent a request to Liz (I recall it was in May of 2014) to remove a memorial that listed the burial site as "unknown".. the same message questioned his wife's name. I thought my short term memory was still fair, but I've always had trouble with finding stuff I filed away ;-). Anyhow if I run across my info, I'll try again. kay
.. I note that Liz the poster of the memorial for Nicholas Martiau containing incomplete info has not responded to your request. A friend had the same problem with an erroneous and incomplete duplicate for another person. She contacted the administrators and they resolved the problem. I know you are not the original poster; however, you might want to point out the problem to the folks in charge. It is confusing to have conflicting info on the site. Kay
|Rob Dwyer||Lear "Leah" Lacey King|
Hi Jane & Becky,
This is a memorial that I created back in 2011 while I was taking headstone photos at Monte Vista. Although I have some King's in my wife's family tree, this wasn't one of them. I do remember being a bit baffled about this particular "Lear" King. In retrospect, I think made some assumptions that I probably shouldn't have based on what little evidence I had. I would tend to believe that your theories are much more plausible and are probably correct. I have encountered many similar scenarios where a misspelling on a headstone caused so much confusion. I am transferring this to Jane, per her request. Thank you both for helping set the record straight for this "Lear King" burial. It believe you are both probably correct in thinking this could be Leah King.

I am unsure what you mean about my response. I have had no communication with you until this instant. This is my initial response. I appreciate the suggestions you made and willing comply. I am sure you appreciate that the memorial I placed preceded the other by four years. I know Colonel Read has many, many direct decedents. My association with Find A Grave has always been primarily to do that. Without faulting others in their quest, genealogy is a byproduct of my contribution.
Thank you for your suggestions regarding the King memorials. I would like to take some time to look over your suggestions, since I am too researching the King family Once I've had a chance to compare notes, I'd be happy to transfer these memorials to you. You should hear more from me soon.

Jane, The date of birth comes from another Jett cousin who has visited the cemetery. I do not have a photo but one has been requested.
Since these headstones were requested and the info sent in by the family; I would think it should match the application form.
the 1870 Census lists: Stephen 19 (02 Sep 1850), Ann 27 (Jul 1843) and the only child listed is Malvrey age 1 (22 Sep 1869).The Census was taken Aug 23 1870. So it seems the 1 Aug 1869 and 1 Aug 1870 cannot be correct.
I am related.

Hiram Jett was my great-uncle. I would like to link his memorial page to those of his parents and siblings. Since you have no relation to him, would you be willing to transfer his page to me?
Jane, I will be happy to add any info you have and make links.

posted the pic of what is at the 4th plot location, removing request lets people know that no marker found, as I have added that data with the picture

Abstract book of deaths confirms she is at Highland, but without a name to place her I do not want to go on faith even though I do believe she is there in that plot. You can withdraw your pic request and I can post the picture of the space with father. Your call
