Beatitudes of a Family Genealogist
Blessed are the great-grandmothers, who hoarded newspaper clippings and old letters, For they tell the story of their time.
Blessed are all grandfathers who filed every legal document, For this provides proof.
Blessed are grandmothers who preserved family Bibles and diaries, For this is our heritage.
Blessed are fathers who elect officials that answer letters of inquiry, For--some--they are the only link to the past.
Blessed are mothers who relate family traditions and legends to the family, For one of her children will surely remember.
Blessed are the relatives who fill in family sheets with extra data, For them we owe the family history.
Blessed is any family whose members strive for the preservation of records, For theirs is a labour of love.
Blessed are the children who will never say, "Grandma, you have told that old story twice today."

I have a hope beyond the grave – that someone on earth might remember me.

|Ruth Noble||Transfer Request|
Would you transfer management of the memorials for my Aunt and Uncle? They are as follows:
Grace A. Hoover (#95102068)
Earl J. Hoover (#95102089)
Thank you very much,
Ruth Noble (#48690661)

Thank you Susan for the transfer!
|Farm Girl from Mo.||Please remove my name from bio. area.|
While I appreciate the credit for furnishing the obituary you added to your memorial for Laura A. (Gilbreath) Dodson (mem. #48049979) I would really like it if you would remove my contributor name & number from the bio. area. I think bios should be about the person who is being memorialized and not about other contributors. Also could you change the three periods I put at the beginning of each paragraph in Laura's obit. to three dashes? Thanks,

I love your "beatitudes" -- who can't relate??
|Marnicia Coffey||Alexander Coffey|
Alexander Bradford Coffey's mother was Mary Bradford (Abt 1809-Abt 1893)
No problem, hope I had it right?, and hope it explained the connection. I always try to put the connection when I leave a flower.

Dora Mae Jackson was my great aunt. Her father was Luther McKinley Jackson + (Mary Jane Rogers). Luther's father was William Samuel Jackson + (Dora Ann Abney). William's father was Samuel Jackson who married a Luvenia Jane Abney who was a sister to Harriet Frances Abney. I guess their parents were John Abney and Matilda McCarthy that's the way I have it in Ancestry, hence sister-in-law of 1st great aunt to my grandfather (Linville Thomas Blew). Dora Mae Jackson married my grandfather's brother Homer George Blew. Hope this explains it.

Memorial # 142319477, Mary Matilda "Mollie" Guthrie Bolles, is my great-grandma. I noticed you posted a flower that says "Rest in peace cousin". If you and my great-grandma are cousins, then that would make us cousins, very distant cousins. I'm curious how you are related to her. I asked my dad if he knew who you were, but he wasn't sure. He said the Bowman last name sounded familiar. Mollie was my Dad's grandma, and his mom's mom.
Looking forward to your response.

And thanks for sharing the Beatitudes of a Family Genealogist; it is GREAT!
I would be pleased if you would go to my Bio and visit my parents' memorials by clicking on their links.
I've been fascinated by the materials and photos you have gathered. I am the granddaughter of Alma Mary Lueckenbach, sister of Herman, and would love to exchange any info. I also have all of my grandma's photos...
