Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am a great-grandfather, born in 1937, who just got started with the project in the summer of 2007.

Being an ex-smoker and having COPD I find this to
be a very good way to get the fresh air and exercise I need.

I got started with cemetery photos a few years ago to add information to the family history my wife Nancy and I are working on.

Joined the Navy Oct. 13, 1955, a member of the U.S. Navy SeaBees, discharged Sept. 21, 1959.

My photographing cemetery work has been mostly in Ashland County, Ohio and adjoining counties, some work in Pennsylvania, West Virginia and North Carolina, extended family.......Bill

Essie Harris Polkinghorn-42958785
Bill, Essie was not the mother of Richard, Rex and Norman Polkinghorn. She was married to Ralph Dine on December 10, 1919, Richland county, Ohio. He died August 30, 1930.
On the 1920 census it is listed only Edward Polinghorn, Gladys and Richard. Gladys brother Fred Ritter (Retter) is also living with them.
On the 1930 census it just list Edward, Richard, Rex, Guy Norman and his mother Martha J. Polkinghorn. It states Edward is married, but Gladys is not listed.
On the 1940 it list Edward, Essia, Rex, Guy N. and Martha Polkinghorn-his mother. I know it list sons, but that would be for Edward.
Gladys either died or they were divorced.
I have tried to find their marriage record, but nothing.
I hope this is not too confusing.
Thanks for all your contributions to Find A Grave.

Hi, Bill. I'm relatively new to contributing to Find a Grave, but am adding a few photos that I have here and there. I discovered a photo assigned to the wrong person...Elizabeth Sommer Moser #41751989. I have added the correct photo, but wanted to advise you so that you can delete the incorrect photo. Thanks for all of your hard work!

Mary E. (Rice) Hills
I believe this is my 3rd great-grandmother who was married to John Hills although there were 2 John Hills in Plymouth (go figure) at the same time both married to a Mary. I'm trying to find my 3rd great-grandmother's maiden name. Her children were George E., Malinda J and Mary A. If you can let me know where you got your info I'd appreciate it - or if anyone out there can help?

Francis Berkey
Michael Berkey
Hi Bill, my name is Francis E. Berkey and I am the father of Michael Roland Willis Roger Berkey at Grove Street Cemetery in New London. I designed the headstone that you photographed and I was very pleased to find it on line. Roland K. and Vivian L Harrison nearby are Mike's Grandparents. Mike was killed in a triple fatality car accident outside Savannah on OH 545 on the way home from school. The state did the absolute worst job investigating the crash scene of anything you ever heard of. I don't think I'll ever get over it. I was going to call myself an old guy but 8/15/1938 won't impress you so I see. Thank you very much for your efforts with the pictures. You may be a distant relative as there are Millers in my tree on several branch roads. Mike was the last male in my line so new it is me. FEBerkey

Link to parents
Hello, I am trying to get all of my aunts and uncles linked to their parents. Bonnie Fisher (#40549492) was the daughter of Henry W. Johnson (#73030364) and Lucinda McFarland Johnson (#73030457). When you get a chance, please link Aunt Bonnie's memorial to theirs. Thank you. - Bruce Johnson

Jeff Yockey
Hello Bill, I see your name a lot, which means you have done lots of work keeping memories alive. Thank you for everything you do.
I am wondering if you would mind transfering management of Jeff Yockey's memorial to me, he is my brother and I would like to add a few things, and let some family members add some memories as well. His memorial ID is 93470682.

Thank you so much,

Memorial # 44130275 & 44130276 Simon & Christina Motz
Hi Bill. I've just sent a request to add Simon's places of birth and death. According to records of the LDS, he was born in the Alsace (then part of Germany), France, but he lived first in Franklin County, PA and migrated to Ashland (then Wayne) Co., OH.

I also suggested adding Christina's maiden name, Frye. Also according to the LDS, Simon and Christina were married in Franklin County, PA in 1798 and lived in Washington Township. Simon appears on various census and tax lists between 1807 and 1820, and in 1816 they and their older children took communion at Franklin County's Grindstone Hill German Lutheran Church.
