YOU ARE NOT TO CREATE A NEW MEMORIAL BECAUSE AN EXISTING MEMORIAL IS NOT CORRECT!!!!!|
What if a member will not transfer my relative to me?
If the memorial in question is a direct relative within four generations (siblings, parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents) to you and the original submitter is not direct family, then they must transfer the memorial. If they refuse to transfer your relative to you, contact email@example.com and we will work on it for you.
Please remember that there are thousands of contributors to Find A Grave, and it is highly likely that some of those contributors will actually be part of your family tree and share some of your ancestors.
Also, the goal is not to "own" every memorial of those to whom you are related. The ultimate goal is to have meaningful, accurate memorials that honor those who have passed away, regardless of who created the memorial or who maintains it.
Can I add a memorial from a newspaper obituary or other 3rd party source?
Find A Grave does not discourage the legitimate indexing of the deceased through obituaries or other 3rd party accounts. Newspapers represent a very good source of information as a public record. We ask that those who index and memorialize the deceased from newspapers and other 3rd party accounts do so with full respect of copyright, refrain from adding information about living people, and respond generously to the family of the deceased. Find A Grave takes no position on the appropriate timing of submitting such indexes
Once again I am getting a ton of incorrect connections for my memorials I have created. If you want a parent or spouse connected, contact find a grave and send them proof. I'm done connecting anyone unless I am working on it myself. I am not sure why people continue to do this. This site is not a place to play games or jokes or make contributors look bad. Grow up, research first and send proof of your corrections to others.
If you see social security numbers I forgot to delete when adding death records, please let me know. Thank you.
The reason I have so many memorials is because years ago I decided to help a group of people in my area post memorials for each and every person buried in all of the cemeteries in my county. Now that we have done that, we are going back and updating each one with information we may find on newspapers.com, ancestry or family search. I also, for a few years, posted memorials from the obituaries in our local newspapers.

Hello. I just submitted an edit to link Parker to his 1st wife, Jessie White. I'm a distant cousin of Jessie's and I verified their marriage on Ancestry.com. Please message or email me if you have any questions. Thank you and have a great weekend. :)
Thank you for updates on this memorial. I have added them.

When I saw the memorial yesterday Isadore was listed above Laura and William Howard was listed as her father. If you didn't make the changes, I have no idea who did, but all is well now. ☺ I have not found a death certificate either on Ancestry or FamilySearch. I would appreciate if you sent me the info: firstname.lastname@example.org Thanks

I have some ancestors buried at Calcutta United Presby. Cemetery in Columbiana County. I may be in the area next month and am considering stopping at the cemetery. Is there a map showing where individuals are buried or can you tell me which section the graves are in if I give you the find a grave #?

Thank you for allowing me management of my uncle's site. I now have my family all together as I'm sure they want to be. Thanks for your kindness.
|Laurie Brandon||John C. Boyd spouse|
Hi! Your memorial for John C. Boyd #25326340 says "Spouse of Minnie Belle Cummings Miller. Not sure which last name is her maiden name however."
Minnie was my grandmother's sister and her maiden name was Cummings. She had been married before to a Miller. I manage memorials for her parents: Thomas Henry Cummings #71386481 and Catherine Coleman Cummings #71386463. Question: Does Minnie rest beside John? If so, I'd love to create a memorial to Minnie, along with a photo of her headstone if you have one... Thanks, Laurie Brandon

I am so sorry . . . I gave you my grandmother's number (his mother). Uncle Bill's number is 23111115. My number is 47152101. Thanks so much for getting back to me. This means so much as my Uncle Bill raised me.
