Being able to assist people in locating relatives or having photos of the grave site is my way of giving back.|
So many obits have no burial information leading one to believe all of these people have been cremated. Is this really the case? Hopefully, as we all walk cemeteries we will find the headstones of those thought to be cremated. By photographing and sharing we can correct the records. Even with vague burial information, what you post will be a valuable asset to others future research.
Because of work done by other Find a Grave contributors, I have closed many gaps in my genealogical searches. If I have posted one of your friends or relatives, please let me know, so I can transfer the memorial to you, ~David
*If you see a duplication I have created, please let me know. I'll cheerfully correct my error.*

|Juaname||Burial info in obituaries|
Hey David, Thanks for transferring CL Richardson's memorial to my management. As for the burial info in obits, it has been my observation that it seems to be a relatively new -- the last 20 or so years -- practice to not include burial information in obituaries. Not sure why that is the case, but I find fewer and fewer more recent obits that include burial information. And yes, to us genealogists, it can be a rather frustrating trend. I'm anxious to pay my respects to CL when next I get to Straley Cemetery, where four direct generations of my ancestors rest.

I had always thought the government marker at the foot of his father's grave belonged to his father. Today I saw it was not for him and took a pix. Glad I could get your request! I appreciate it so much when the people up north get my photo requests, I usually make an effort when I am at a cemetery to fill a couple of requests. :-)

Upon further research per www.la-cemeteries.com, unfortunately it isn't the same cemetery as Rev. Andrew Powell (my grandad) is buried. However, I did see another entry for the same Rev. Oliver being buried in Zion Cemetery in Grant Parish, and I don't believe that particular entry to be correct.
While both Foules and Sicily Island are both in the Catahoula Parish, Rev. Oliver is buried in New Zion Cemetery in Foules, LA and Rev. Powell is buried in the cemetery at New Zion Baptist Church in Peck/Sicily Island, LA in which he lived a stone's throw from during his lifetime (LOL!). I hope this helps! :-)

You are welcome David. I was visiting the area and saw an opportunity to share.
|Mary Martin Eisel||Ashland Cemetery.|
Dear David. I am sending this message to everyone who has a memorial set up at the Ashland Cemetery.
It is listed as being in Gilmer, when it is not. It is in Ashland, but since they no longer have a post office, the next closest town is Diana 75640.
Will you go in and see if you are able to make the correction? I have contacted F.A.G. and am doing all I can to get it changed. Thanks, Mary
Thanks for the tip. As soon as I can get someone to go with me I am going to get me one,
My oldest granddaughter tells me that is a store outside of Charlotte so we will go when she has time .
Have a great day, thanks again

Hope you are well an that your family are well also
When I went to West Virginia years ago to see
George he said he had given the Mormons some
of the Moose History That is why I am trying to update these Volumes. George gave Mike & Scott Moose the copyrights and I e-mail then when I have some info to add. These Volumes have kept me going now that I am a wheel chair a lot. I love going to Cemetery's the old stones are so pretty. I can no longer do that, so the computer is my best friend till I do some thing to mess it up and my grandchildren have to help me fix it. Going to get a new one this one is old as the hills.
Have a great day

Charley was a special friend and HS classmate of my husband. We enjoyed many pleasant hours with him since his return to Lampasas. He will be sorely missed by the Wednesday morning breakfast group of 1957 HS grads.
Thanks for the obit. I added it to his memorial.
