|pamnotes||Ellen Lawson Matthews|
I noticed that you added a pic of Ellen Matthews and was wondering if you know if she ever had any children or nephews with a last name of Matthews. I am researching my great great grandfather, Andrew Jackson Matthews (1835-1887) and was wondering if you happen to have any history on him? I cannot find anything about his parents or those before him. I have his decendents. He is buried at Tuscumbia, Missouri, as is Ellen. His page shows this info: Find A Grave Memorial# 127113119. You can contact me at email@example.com. I greatly appreciate it.

Hello, long no speak! I was just checking on old information I have in my tree. Your grave site for James W Turman #78874183 seems to have messed up. It has his wife as his mother and siblings and children inter-mixed. Dratted computer programs! They can sure make a mess.
Talk to you later

|This Old Scarecrow||RE: Little Saline Cemetery & Hights|
As for the Hight property I mentioned...I'm not clear how much of the land was owned by the Hight's. The late Harlan Carol Hight told us he was raised at the house that still stands along the west side of Saline Road. It may have actually been the Pearl family land too, as sometimes the families were tenant farmers and lived and worked others land. It appears the Hight family was rather large. Although my father-in-law was under the assumption Harlan Hight was born at the house on Saline Road, my research indicates he was born at Yates, or Yates Crossing at the Llano River. Close enough for me. My father-in-law is LtCol James Reid, USMC (Ret.). He purchased in 1997 the lion's share of the area from (approximate) U.S. 377 at Saline Road, (more accurately) north of the old 377 road alignment, north along Saline Road (cross into Menard Co.), left (west) along Saline Road to almost where the Little Saline Cemetery is (Fritz Road). Then the property line plunges south back to almost U.S. 377. The swatch of land between the old road and the improved 377 belongs to someone else. If you look at Google Maps, you'll see it's about two thirds of the area north to south, the western third along Ranch Road 1221 to Hext is not ours.
There is also a rectangular plat just north into Menard Co. along Saline Road that reaches west about 2000 feet back from the road and the north property line is parallel with the branch of Saline Road that branches off to the right. That parcel belongs to a Colonel Dewey, a Marine friend of my father-in-law. When I'm not stretching barb wire, I'm keeping a sharp eye out for old house foundations, wells, trash dumps, and native burial mounds. Next time I get out there, I'll make a detailed list of your memorials that need to be photographed, and cover that much for you. I uploaded a few to some of yours last evening. My only problem was my camera battery kept dying out.

|Paula J||Francis Miller Find A Grave Memorial# 26906767|
You sent me a note regarding the photos on the memorial for Francis Miller. You have indicated that your photo is a correct photo and the others may not be. I agree they are not the same person. However, I did not post the photos, perhaps you should address your question to the person that posted the other photos. I would like to have the wrong photos removed before they go around the world and back as fact. Also on requests like this it would be nice:) if you would include your email for a response. Let me hear from you as to the outcome or if I need to make the request (some people are funny about that). Thanks for the heads up. It is appreciated.

|Bob & Bonnie McEver||Files Valley Cemetery|
You are receiving this note because you are a FindAGrave Contributor with ties to the Files Valley Cemetery
http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=cr&CRid=3585 near Itasca, TX. By ties, I mean that you created memorials, maintain memorials, added photos and/or notes to memorials in that cemetery. After reading below, if you do not wish to remain on this list, please reply to firstname.lastname@example.org, asking to be removed and it will be done immediately. Currently there are 84 Contributors on the list.
I was raised in the small community 5 mi. east of Itasca called Files Valley. http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=mr&MRid=47129367&
I attended elementary school there through 1952 and my parents ran the grocery store. There are still folks living there but the main thing still there is the Files Valley Cemetery.
Recently, two events occurred that that have a significant impact on the future of the cemetery.
1) The loss of Kenneth Stufflebeme, the long time Trustee of the Trust fund set up before 1992 by my Dad (Robert McEver), Aunt (Annie Mae McEver McMillan), Joe Price and others.
2) The bridge across the creek to the cemetery was washed away during recent flooding of the Files Valley Creek. There is currently no access to the cemetery for visiting or mowing, etc.
I wish to express my deepest sympathies to Kenneth’s wife Edwina along with sons Mike & Jim. The loss of Kenneth’s role with the cemetery, while significant, is nothing compared to the family’s loss.
Living in Houston makes it difficult for me to evaluate what options exist for dealing with these issues. I do know that there are some actions already underway to address problems. I have the name of another Trustee but I have been unable to locate contact info. I also understand that another Files Valley resident, Mark Wood, is working on getting a bridge across the creek in another location that would provide access to the cemetery. The Hill County Commissioner for that precinct has confirmed that, because the cemetery and access road is on private property, the County will not provide any funds for reestablishing access. The Files Valley Cemetery Trust Fund along with other private parties with interest in preserving the cemetery may have to provide funding. Any payment out of the Trust Fund will jeopardize the ability to continue maintenance, mowing, etc.
If you or anyone you know has information that would help us in sorting out these issues, please email me at email@example.com or call 713-252-7222.
As my profile indicates, I, along with others on this list, have a detailed knowledge of this cemetery. Out of the 426 memorials currently noted, there are 24 memorials with no markers. I am very confident that all of the markers there have been photographed meaning that there are 24 unmarked graves or some memorials have been placed in the wrong cemetery. If you maintain a memorial without a tombstone icon, especially if the memorial has been added in the last few years, please check your source info to confirm that you have the correct cemetery.
Finally, I have a plot map created from Google image. It cannot be posted on the FindAGrave site because of copyright issues but it does have useful detail. I will provide it for your personal use if you provide me with your email address.
Thank you for reading this lengthy note. There is much going on.

I did not find a stone for John in the North Platte Cemetery. He is listed, and it is an area where there are several buriels without stones. It is quite possible that there is a little flat cement marker with his name and I missed it. I will look again for that. Do you want a photo of the grave site at his listed location? Just let me know what you'd like me to do.
