I became interested in my family's history about 15 years ago. Since then I've located many relatives, some living, most not, mainly through internet research. My family lines are Wilder, Watson, Pearson, Howell, Hazel, Marberry, Young, and Robinson. Several distant cousins who found me online very generously gave me the Hazel family Bible with the names of my forefathers inscribed in it & a Hazel photo album of my ancestors.Prior to receiving those, I hadn't known the names of my Hazel ancestors, much less what they looked like! What gifts they were!|
I have also worked on my husband's family tree and the main surnames in his tree are Lane, Bryant, Shepherd, Barnett, Potts, Armstrong, Killick & White-West. Working on these lines with other family members (Sue!) has cemented lifelong friendships that I cherish.
For me, the last chapter of documenting an ancestor's life is finding their final resting place and hopefully, getting a photograph of their grave. It is my way of honoring them and preserving their memory for generations to come.
Find-a-Grave has been such a great tool in completing the stories of so many of my ancestors. Many wonderful volunteers have provided photographs for me and I hope to be able to do the same for others. Any photographs I have posted on findagrave may be used without permission or any credit given. The more people who share the photos the longer our departed loved ones will be remembered!
I have been married for over 40 years. I have 3 adult children, 1 grandson and 1 shelter dog. Now that my kids are grown and on their own I am able to devote more time to what I love to do - work on my family tree! They all think I'm a little over the top with my passion for genealogy, and I would have to say, I agree with them!

Hi again! The 6th ggranddtr of Thomas Gresham who posted the flag has her messages disabled so I can't notify her regarding the reason for the correction on Thomas's memorial. Jan
|Anonymous||RE: Thomas Gresham|
Hi Thanks for the corrections. I will let the person who posted the flag know of the correction. Here is an interesting tidbit regarding Thomas and his father in law, John Lane that you and your husband may or may not be aware of. I am not sure if Thomas had married Dorcas Lane yet by 1784 but I suspect he had. (Do you have a marriage date?) Anyway, a letter I have written by Peter Hoss Gresham (great grandson of Thomas and Dorcas) to my grandmother Elizabeth Serena Gresham Strain dated 1/21/1890 indicates that John Lane (farmer) deeded to Thomas Gresham all of Washington County, State of Franklin, 162 acres, consideration 100 pounds good and lawful money of said State, Nov.7th, 1784, joining the lands of John Lane, Jarnagin and Cunningham. This info is from deeds in Jonesborough E. TN, of the Gresham family as copied by William Madison Gresham in 1890. The history of The State of Franklin is quite interesting and John Lane and Thomas owned one whole county in it.!! Jan
|Anonymous||RE: your question about Thomas Gresham|
Hi Thank you for your quick response and offer to transfer this memorial to me however I prefer to not maintain any memorials. I have way too many "irons in the fire" already! I hope you will continue to maintain this memorial and assume that when you get a chance, you will remove the info regarding him serving in the Revolutionary War. I will inform the 6th great granddaughter who
posted the flag on his memorial that the info was incorrect. It certainly is easy to make such a mistake as there are countless related Thomas Greshams and it is hard to keep track of who is who!!! Jan
In researching my ancestor (4th great grandfather), I could not find that this Thomas Gresham Find A Grave memorial # 46583777 is the correct Thomas Gresham serving in the Revolutionary War. I did find that a Thomas Gresham, born Dec 12, 1761 in Amherst Co. VA and dying in 1816 did serve in the Revolutionary War in the 3rd VA Regiment. Please let me know is you think there should be a correction on "my" Thomas' memorial. Thank you. Jan

She is not blood related to me and she has nieces that are on Ancestry that may want to do that.
|Wilma Madison||Bonnie Vessell #38107057|
Bonnie Vessell's maiden name was Dockery. She lived in their farmhouse after John's death and remarried to James Blair. She never had children by either marriage. She died 1/9/2004 in Dawson Springs Ky and is buried in Madisonville Ky.
I lived across the road from her for many years and my sister Martha Louise Jones married Bonnie's
half brother James M Dockery.
Would like to share any information you have on Bonnie and your relationship to her.
Thanks for the Memorial. Wilma Madison email@example.com
|KATHERINE RUDOLPH||Matilda (Horner) Cary # 59393026|
Thank you for the memorial! I believe that Matilda Horner who married Churchwell Carry was the daughter of William and Lavinia Horner, and not the daughter of Cavalier Horner. An 1856 deed of sale from the heirs of William Horner states that Matilda Cary was the wife of CJ Carry, and the couple's inclusion in the list of heirs selling the property would indicate that Matilda was daughter of William. The deed is available at
Thank you again--
