I have been a full time genealogical researcher for 30 years. The primary surnames I research are Turner and Tilley. |
I have been the group administrator of the Turner DNA project at Family Tree DNA Company from its inception in 2002 and much of my current research involves Turner lines. Thus, I don't do a lot of additions to Find-A-Grave except for immediate family and one cemetery that is located not too far from where I live that has a large number of Turners buried in it.
Find-A-Grave is a great resource but I am a little concerned that people are now adding research that goes beyond what is on the stones that is questionable as to its accuracy. I will add information when I can prove from a primary record that the information on the stone is incorrect. This often happens when a tombstone is erected some years after the event. I have seen numerous instances where people are using information published in a cemetery survey book that has errors in it and the information doesn't even match what is on a tombstone.

I never was able to get much history on my family. I live in Chicago. I am having a terrible time trying to research everything. I saw that you had posted the memorial for Marvin Edward Coursey. Thank you for your time. I would like to exchange info if you know anything more. Not sure how to do that with out making my info public.

May I suggest you contact findagrave.com concerning any members that are unresponsive or inaccurate. I have had the same problems in my family tree. They usually go by the earliest date. These people working on my tree, call themselves researchers, but they have the same relative with same wife in different cemeteries in Arkansas. They won't even answer my messages OR my emails. Since it is coming up on ancestry.com now, it is being used in Personal family trees.
I gave up for a while but now I am going to renew my requests to findagrave.com
I have gotten response from them but it is just so much trouble to get all the facts together. And they can't help you if you don't.
p.s. My problem is that I have not been to there old cemeterier in Arkansas. I'm in Texas so I have to wait until it is really messed up before I start. :o( I'm in Texas
I pity your cemetery being in Oklahoma. At least you have been there and have obits.
|Mark Wilson||RE: Obituary wrongfully copied from Mem.#104830213|
I REALLY am sorry to upset you the way I did! I NEVER told Coleman2 that I originated the obit for Lloyd Roland Littlefield. I sent the obituary to him, as I recall, to show him that his memorial was a duplicate of yours! I have NEVER had any problem with Coleman2 honoring my changes and I have sent him numerous changes, updates, and suggestions!
FYI, I have been mapping the Fletcher Cemetery since the second week of May and have cataloged over 2,500 graves there. I have spent over 1,200 hours locating, photographing, and taking GPS co-ordinates of the interments at the Fletcher Cemetery. (I took EVERY GPS co-ordinate of EVERY headstone!) I have placed this information in a 3-ring folder and given it FREE OF CHARGE to the City of Fletcher Town Hall. See Nettie or Margo at Town Hall and they will be happy to show it to you! I did this because after 25 years of doing genealogy research, I realized that sometimes family members have difficulty finding the location of a loved one who has passed. And, if you've ever tried to go through the cemetery records at Town Hall, you will agree that the Fletcher Cemetery records were a mess! I wanted to GIVE BACK to the community in which I live, not bolster my resume.
Again, Gail, I am sorry for lighting your fuse and will message Coleman2 to delete the obituary that I sent him. You have severely misjudged me in this matter, however, I am willing to let it rest. If I can ever be of assistance to you, please let me know how I can help!
|Raymond Wilsey||Rutha Ann Cowlin (Harris)|
You say in your post about Rutha Ann Harris that she was living next to her parents in 1870 Census in Stoddard Co. MO. I can't find this record. Can you help me?
|Barbara Lintner||RE: Photos added to wrong person|
I am so sorry, I will remove them right now.
|Clarence Wayne Pigg||C. M. Tilley Erick Cemetery|
It has been pointed out to me that we have a duplicate entry for the above mentioned memorial. My entry was first which means you should delete your entry. However, you have done so much work on the memorial that I will delete my entry after you have accepted the edit that I submitted for the grave plot location. My sister and I keep up with all the grave locations in the Erick OK Cemetery and would like to have them on Find A Grave.
Thanks Clarence Pigg
