I have been a member here for more than 11 years since it first began and I do it because each of my memorials mean something special to me or someone I know and 90% of them are on my family tree. I rarely submit a memorial just because I want too. Most of my information is obtained through the LDS church or a published obituary.
I don't do it for the numbers, popularity, ratings, or to get the highest numbers of anything. I believe we each have a right to submit what we want, about who we want, regardless if someone else had already submitted something. They are my way of honoring those that came before me and I will not delete one that is on my tree even if there are 10 other entries for that person.
However, if I am not related I do a search first, if I find a listing I 99% of the time do not submit one.
There are thousands of duplicate entries some with more info than others and each has it's own value.
SO please do not ask me to delete mine because there is another that you may have submitted earlier. I assure you my submissions were not submitted for the same reason as you may of submitted yours. Save your time and don't bother asking.
They are my stories, not yours. Worry about yours and all will peaceful and we will remain friends.
I respect your right to have an opinion or story please respect mine.

I hope you are the daughter of Dana G Smith, but if you're not maybe you could put me in touch? I served with Dana in the Marine Corps in Vietnam in 66 and 67. We were buddies, I have stories to share about him and a picture.

Gina's mother (Joyce) wanted to know how you are related or know Gina. Thank you.
Just wondering if you are related to the Walton memorials that you listed?
I am looking for input on the best way to connect my great grandfather to his family.

Find A Grave Memorial# 10814553
I am trying to find family.
Her maiden name would have been Rosetine.
And she was called Elsie.
This Memorial comes up as a hint for her in my Tree.
Thank you for your Find A Grave time + efforts.
A lot of people are helped by info they find here.

|Alice DeShane||Sherman Smith|
Sorry, I referred to the wrong names for the parents of Sherman Smith - you cited Robert Smith and Mary Fleming. Do you know if he ever lived in Kansas, and or when he died?
|Alice DeShane||Sherman Smith - b. 1866 - Ohio|
Would love more information, if you have any, on the Sherman Smith posting. It cites a birth year of 1866 and a burial in Ohio? Son of Fleming and Mary Smith. Do you know if he ever lived in Kansas?
