Bio and Links
Bio Photo Researching one's genealogy is a bit like a treasure hunt. As you learn more and more about your ancestors, surprises keep occuring. I am thankful to all the people who have taken the time to research the past. I aim to contribute as well. I am working on my Peck ancestry which goes back to Joseph and some of his immigrant sons who arrived in 1638. Other names include Vanderwerker, Van Patten, Shoup/Shoop/Schupp, McNeil, Cramer, Paine/Payne, McDougall, Lant, Reid, Reed, Campbell, Wagman, Foster, Cushman, Grandy, Bartlett, Haverly, Duesler, Snell, Wendell, Glen, Hawley, Harmon, etc. I get great satisfaction in discovering and entering these historical records, before they are lost for good. Most of my entries are in MA, RI, CT and upstate NY where I live. I am a retired HS biology and chem. teacher. I have completed 10 Earthwatch expeditions and travelled to over 60 countries. Climbing mountains is also appealing having been up Kilimanjaro, Whitney, Olympus, Rysy, Ben Nevis, Algonquin, Marcy and others. Genealogy is another fun and productive way to spend my time.
One of my great joys is to visit villages where my ancestors lived before coming to America. In 2010 I visited Hingham and Beccles, England where the paternal Pecks lived in the 1500 and 1600's. We also visited Petten, Holland for the maternal Van Pattens and Meppel, Holland for the Van Alstynes and Vanderwerkers. In 2012 I visited Scotland for the McNeils and Reids and then the Mozel River Valley in the Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany for the Shoups/Schupps and Mais lines. In 2015 we were in Scotland again at the Campbell Castle in Inverary and to the Campbell Crypt in Kilum, Scotland. 2016 took us to Norway for the Bradts, Northern Ireland for the Beatties and Largs, Scotland for the Brisbins.

RE: Helen Peck (d. 1614)
She's buried in St Michael's Churchyard in Beccles. I've already entered some Pecks in that listing, including the parents of Robert (d. 1593). I'm descended from his sister Margaret Peck Blott (d. 1616) of Oakley.

RE: Robert Peck (d. 1593)
It's the one called the Chelmsford Cathedral now. His grandson Samuel was also buried there.

Robert Peck (d. 1593)
In case you'd like to move his memorial to the correct cemetery listing, he was buried March 26, 1593 at St Mary's Church, Chelmford, Essex. He was described as 'gentleman of Becles in Suffolk', so I know it's the right man.

Wasn't sure if you were aware that you added Amy Snell's picture to Jacob Snell's memorial 24158305. Have a great day, happy grave hunting.

Peck Family
Hi Again Dave...Thanks for the prompt message return. Wow... I saw on your bio that you are a retired science teacher. I am one as well. I taught Chemistry, Earth/Space Science, and Environmental Science in Florida before retiring Jan. of 2016.
Dave... The relationship that I am trying to establish is this. My distant cousin was Archibald Clybourn. Archibald and two other men, John Kinzie and Gurdon Hubbard, founded the city of Chicago. Kinzie came in 1804, Hubbard came in 1818, and my cousin came in 1823 from Virginia. One of my cousins sons, John Henley Clybourn, married a Sophia Peck in Chicago. Sophia was born in Connecticut to a Hiram Peck & Phoebe Hodges. I been trying to establish a relationship between Ferdinand Wythe Peck & Sophia Peck. Did you see all the memorials that I created on Ferdinand? I was at Rosehill Cemetery Friday and noticed there were a lot of headstones not posted on Find-a-grave. My cousin Archibald Clybourn is also buried at Rosehill. I live in Florida and come up to the Chicago area to visit my brother in Crown Point and to do research for a biography I am writting on Archibald Clybourn. Well Dave, I better go. I need to socialize with my brother. I am headed to Giles County, Virginia where Archibald originated from. Talk to ya later.

RE: Andrew Cramer
Yes, the date on Andrew Cramer for birth is 1835; I had put in an edit request, but just looked at it and it says no change. I'm deleting the request as it's already in now. As far as your other 2 requests for Mary and Charles Cramer, there were 2 small stones on either side of the main monument that just said "Mother" "Father"; as no actual names were on them I didn't want to take the chance and submit them. If you think that they may be those 2 requests, I can go back next week and take photos on those 2 stones. -Bill
