RE: Gordon Cemetery
Hi Maggie, I am so sorry that I have not responded sooner but my husband has been sick and taking chemo. You ask about the Gordon Cemetery. There are several Gordon Cemeteries in Stokes Co. I am not sure which one you are talking about. My 5th great grandfather is Thomas Gordon. I started a group on facebook where we share photo's, information and just connect as family. My mother's maiden name is Gordon. If you are on, I would love for you to join our group. Here is the link..... Please let me know which Gordon cemetery you are talking about and I will get directions for you. Always love to connect with distant cousins.

RE: Bertha Gordon
Bertha is my 2nd cousin 2x removed and related to me via the Coltrane line of my family tree. Do you have a tree on If so I could give you viewing rights to my tree where you can see info on her family. My ancestry name is LMyers22. You can send me a message there and I'll be able to connect with you and give you permits to my tree.
Here's how it works out: Bertha's parents were George Tate Burroughs (1840-1925) and Laura B. Coltrane (1865-1890)
Laura's father was Ira B. Coltrane (1815-1894)
Ira's mother was Nancy Coltrane (1798-1870)
Nancy's son Branson E. Coltrane (1834 - 1883)
was Ira's brother and my Great Great Grandfather. So, our trees split at Nancy Coltrane. I am on Branson's line and you are on Ira's line. I believe that makes you and I 2nd cousins 4x removed.
Hope that makes sense! ~ Laura

RE: Bertha Gordon
Do you have a find-a-grave id number for Bertha's memorial? Is Gordon her married name and if so what was her maiden name? - Laura

RE: Kenneth Roscoe Dickenson
I appreciate so much for the information and pictures. My email is:

Ruth married Verl Peterson and they had 2 children. Verl was married before and had 2 boys. His wife died about the same time Bud was killed. They are both still alive and they have had a wonderful over 60 year marriage. My husband is the best and I contribute that to his good parents.

I would love to keep in contact with you and find out more. I guess our biggest questions would be "how did they meet?" There was such a huge age difference.

Thank you again for your pictures and words of history.

Kenneth Roscoe Dickenson
I saw on a message you left for Kenneth Roscoe Dickenson, you called him Uncle Bud. I'm assuming you know him.

My name is Bonnie Peterson. My mother-in-law was married to Bud. Her name is Ruth Hannah and her name is on the other side of Bud's headstone. I would love to know more about Bud. Ruth won't talk about him. And it was by luck I found this website and the headstone. The only thing my husband knows about his mothers first husband is his nickname of "Bud". The reason he found this out was he found a tool which had "Bud" engraved on it.

We would love to know more about him; what he was like; if you have any pictures of him; etc.

I am anxious to find out more.
