Bio and Links
Bio Photo I have been doing genealogy for many years. One of my favorite things in researching is visiting cemeteries. I love to just walk around the tombstones and try to imagine what the people's lives might have been like. I have been contributing tombstone pictures to this site to help fellow genealogists that are a distance away that can't visit their relative's gravesite in person.

My family has been a big assistance to me in my project for this website. My son, Trenton, my daughter, Alena, and my husband, Terry, have helped me take tombstone photos. So a big "THANKS" goes out to all three of them!!

Quote from Findagrave: "The goal is not to "own" every memorial of those to whom you are related. THE ULTIMATE GOAL SHOULD BE TO HAVE MEANINGFUL, ACCURATE MEMORIALS THAT HONOR THOSE WHO HAVE PASSED AWAY, REGARDLESS OF WHO CREATED THE MEMORIAL OR WHO MAINTAINS IT." Please keep this in mind when you request a transfer as it takes a lot of time and money to do research to add memorials to this site. I love working on this site, but I have run into some problems just recently.

I DO WELCOME ADDITIONS, CORRECTIONS AND FAMILY LINKS. The more information the better!! I usually get the updates done within 1 or 2 days.

John Eaton
John Eaton was my 3rd Great Grandfather. I saw that you have performed some research. Do you know how he passed or rather how he died? Link below is to his Find A Grave site. Thank you! Dave

Serena A & John B Lawson#279ooo94
Hi, I do have more info on Serena & John Lawson. May I ask, if I can send this to you, to add their children's names. Seen it was back in 2008, when you add them to Find A Grave.

Thank you.
Billie May.

Find A Grave Memorial# 26817136
I question whether Hester was ever married to Jacob Van Dorn. She was married to his brother Hezekiah, and Jacob was married twice to other ladies. I emailed Dave Van Doren who takes care of Jacob Van Dorn's find a grave site and his wife emailed me back and told me that Dave has passed away. Anyways, if you have info that would confirm the marriage of Jacob and Hester I would be very interested in it. But in all my research, I can't find it to be true. Thanks! Julie Raab

Phebe Beedle Morrow Find A Grave Mem# 29671785
Hi Lesa, I just submitted an edit for Phebe Beedle Morrow's (Memorial# 29671785) birth place but thought I'd follow it up with a note. I've been meaning to do this for a long time.

Please change her birth place from Miami (where she did live) to either Morgan Twp., Washington County, PA (the county name when she was born in 1784), or to Morgan Twp., Greene County, PA (what it's been since the 1790's when Greene County was formed from Washington and others.

There's so many of these similar errors with this family (and many others) but every small bit helps as you know. The following is more for any other reader who aren't familiar with the history.

First, there were no, none, zero settlers anywhere in the Ohio portion of the Northwest Territory in 1784 and only a few south of the Miami area starting in 1788/89. Any who tried were killed if they didn't escape back to KY fast enough.

More importantly, her father Joseph is known to have been living in Morgan Twp, Washington County PA at that time through their tax records. He and the family did not leave PA until 1788 or so, then they went to KY for about a year before arriving in the Columbia/Cincinnati area at the end of 1788. He then bought land and lived in what would be Warren County, OH around 1795 when the Indian Wars ended. He lived near his brother (my 4x GGF), Francis until moving to Miami County, Ohio around 1805 and then to Fountain County, IN just before 1830.

Hope this helps. Thanks for alllll your work!

John

Deborah Pepper (#59064769)
30 May 2017
Lesa,

Please forgive me if youve already seen this request Ive sent it twice before, but cant find my request, or a response to same, in these Public Messages. Deborah Pepper, Find A Grave Memorial (#59064769) is my paternal 3rd Great Grandmother. I have quite a bit of information about her that Id like to place in her memorial. Would you please transfer her memorial to me? I will not remove references to you in the Created by section of her memorial Im not interested in numbers only in maintaining complete profiles of my family ancestors for my family, and any other interested parties, to review as a complete bio of that particular family member. I spent quite a bit of time recently in the Warren County, IN Courthouse and Union Cemetery in Warren County, gathering information and taking pictures of, not only her gravesite, but the gravesites of several other family members in Union Cemetery. My Grandmother is the only one that I have much information about, so I am only asking you to transfer her memorial. Had it not been for the work youve done with all of these memorials, I would not have even known where to begin looking for this generation of my family. For that, I am truly grateful. Thank you very much, Alan Deegan - ashgrove (#47650442)

Photo issue
Hi,
I goofed.
My parents share a headstone, a photo of which was on my dad's Find A Grave page but was not on my mom's Find A Grave page. A photo that you'd taken. Misunderstanding the guidelines, I copied & pasted the photo from my dad's page to my mom's page. When I was made aware of my error (thank you Bob & Nancy Cannon for pointing this out!), I tried to delete it, but I can't figure out how to remove it without deleting the entire memorial page. All I can find is how to upload a picture. not delete one.
I'm very sorry.
Would please remove my name from under the photo, or delete it and upload it again? Her name is Frances Douglas, Find A Grave # 119315572.
Thanks so much,
Tina

Joseph like all his brothers and sister were born in New York and died in Vermilion County IL. He was not born in Illinois per our records. I have done a lot of research for patrons at the local library where I work in Reference and Archives. I try to post corrections as I come across.

Thanks Again
Dear Lesa,
Back in 2009 I asked you to locate my Great Grandfather Milton A Bailey. You found him and send me a picture of his grave and posted it on the internet. In Sept. 2017, my wife and I will visit the grave and complete a tour of Milton's tour of duty with the Union Army in the Civil War.
Thanks again for all your help.
Sincerely yours,
John Bailey

Mahala J Johnson and J W Johnson in Salem Cemetery, Attica, Fountain, IN
Find A Grave #49285457 and #49564678 in Salem Cemetery, Attica, Fountain, IN

I am fairly certain that these two memorials are for the same person, Mahala J [Wells] Johnson who married James W Johnson in 1876 Tippecanoe, IN.

#49285457 Mahala J Johnson d. Apr 10, 1881 age 25y 2m 6d

#49564678 J W Johnson d. 1881 age 25y 2m 6d

It appears that the headstone photo with J W Johnson actually shows the inscription 'Mahala, Wife of J W Johnson' ....'MAHALA' engraved on the top arch of the stone. Thus not a grave for J W Johnson, but for his wife.

Perhaps the two memorials could be combined. Thank you for your work at Find a Grave.
