Bio and Links
Bio Photo I retired as an elementary school principal in 2000. As a person that sleeps only 4 hours a night that leaves 20 hours to fill. Sitting home is not an option. Now, I drive a school bus 5 hours a day and visit cemeteries every chance I get. I have never been to a cemetery that charged admission and seldom is there a crowd. My wife, Sandra, is of a like mind so it works well. We both enjoy the hunt and the thrill that comes with each discovery. Let us know if we can help. If you have additional information on one of my post or you are a relative and want ownership, I will gladly transfer it to you. Just ask. Oh! By the way just call me Doc!
NOTE: Many times the family plot has names different from those on the headstone. I always attempt to provide a reference point for markers. Hope this is not confusing. I will be glad to post any accurate information on memorials followed by--provided by and you idea.

Quotes worth remembering:

"Live your life so that your memories make you smile." rej

"Tread softly, dreams are buried here." Unknown

"If you wonder about your 'roots' you have two parents, four grandparents eight great-grandparents and 16 great-great-grandparents, and by the time you go back 10 generations 300 years or so- you had 1,024 people from whom you are directly descended. --Mady Castro

New Hope Presbyterian omission
Hi, Richard,
Thank you so much for your excellent work.
As I was searching some of my Rankin kin, I looked for my 2nd great-grandmother Nancy Elizabeth Leeper Beaty, whose grave is marked at New Hope.
Her tombstone gives the following information:
12 May 1798 - 26 Oct 1849.
When her husband Robert A. Beaty, died the South Point River was up, making it impossible to bury him at New Hope, so he was buried at South Point Methodist, Belmont, NC.
His tombstone would read: Robert A. Beaty, born Mecklenburg Count, NC 31 Oct 1794; died 14 or 15 Aug 1881, Gaston County, NC.]

Hello... How did you come about finding Kenny's grave? Finding this site, has been such a comfort to me. As I live FAR ENOUGH away, I now have a means of placing flowers on his grave. I miss him SO MUCH, STILL.I always will. You saw where there had been something glued to the left side of the headstone- it had been my encased rose that I had placed there. I guess the weather took it's toll.
The stone has not been kept up. I am going to make plans as soon as I can, to clean it up. He always will be the love of my life. Thank you for making it possible for me to leave flowers. TRUE LOVE, TRULY- NEVER DIES.
