Find a Grave ID

Bio

I started actively researching the family ancestry in 2006 and my daughter started almost 20 years earlier. In this search, we have looked for the final resting places of our ancestors and their families. We found many, but some are lost and the cemeteries abandoned, uncared for &/or destroyed. For this reason, I am especially interested in documenting and preserving the memory of the pioneer cemeteries and those buried in them.
I am a member of the Genealogical Society of Marion County (Indiana) - serving two years as Cemetery Projects Chairman & two years as editor of the quarterly "Family Quest" publication. In 2017 and 2018, I worked with Find A Grave to "clean up" the numerous duplicate memorials in many of the larger Marion County Indiana cemeteries. (There are still many!)
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Although the Internet is a great tool and source of genealogical information, a lot of this information is incorrect, misleading and self-perpetuating. Just because it is written, does not make it true. Facts are not facts until they are proven. (That is why Ancestry.com calls everything a "hint".) Remember that genealogy without documentation is mythology!

Find A Grave is no exception. There are memorials with incorrect personal information, the wrong cemetery (even with photos from the correct cemetery) or showing cemeteries that don't exist or have made up names. So treat everything as a hint until it is verified as a fact. Bad information is never right and it can cause others to stop looking for the truth.
--------------------------------
Corrections and additions to my Find A Grave postings are always welcome. Please use the Edit tab on the memorial and click on the Suggest a Correction ("SAC") link. Also use the SAC link for transfer request. Transfers outside Find A Grave guidelines will be assessed on a case by case basis. Please state your specific relationship to the deceased.
Any posted grave marker photos I have taken may be copied for personal or genealogical use AS LONG AS CREDIT IS GIVEN. Written biographies may NOT be copied without permission. The same stipulation applies to photos & other information found on my Rootsweb home page. (My posting them on the internet does not make them free to use.)
