I started looking for my family after stumbling on this site. I was so EXCITED to find MY GGGGG Grands, and the cemeteries have done a great job of preservation. I love photography and wandering through old cemeteries, some of the monuments are awe inspiring. I was also struck and saddened by the crumbling faded stones, especially the ones I remembered playing among during my childhood. It is so sad that someone will look for a relative and not be able to see the stone any longer. Therefor I feel that we all have an obligation to photograph and try to save these memories. |
How do I get a relative's memorial transferred to me?
Transfer requests should be for direct relatives within four generations.
Explain your relationship in the request! Any non-direct relatives (aunts, uncles, cousins, etc) are not required to be transferred.
Please note that it is not appropriate to request a transfer and then, after receiving the transfer, delete that page and substitute it with a new memorial that you have created.
Get out and photograph memorials while they are still readable. This site is primarily for GRAVE photos not genealogy, preserve those memories that are quickly fading.

I see that you posted a photo of John J Callahan. I slightly improved it with my software programme and would like to send it to you to replace the one that you posted here. Please send me your email address to firstname.lastname@example.org.

Sorry to leave you another message, but you already have a page for Carey and Adelaide Humphries Willard made. You can just attach Adelaide's obit on her page. Along with adding Lou as their child. This message silly because I know you probably already know that.

You do have her dates rights. No correction neeeded there.

Hello, I'm sorry but you misunderstood me. It's the parents that you have Lou linked to that is wrong. I sent you the obit of Lou's mother just as proof of parentage for you I'm sorry to have caused an inconvenience. Can you please remove the obit and I guess you may need to correct Lou's dates. You had all her information correct for her previously . It was only her linkage to the parents you had incorrect. Her parents were Carey and Adelaide humphries willard, not Mr and Mrs Joseph Willard. So sorry I must not have explained it right s

Hi, I saw your memorial on Lou Willard Greer Bishop. I was wondering if you were aware the Lou is actually the daughter of Carey Willard and Adelaide Humphries . She is listed in her mother obit in the Union Daily Times. Here's a copy of it

You did the heavy lifting on initial documentation. I'm just touching up the details.

The memorial was originally in Hollywood Cemetery in Richmond, VA and that was where the photo was taken. I have removed it.

Cathy, I took the grave photo but not the photo you mention (now third one). I no longer live near the cemetery to check about what you mentioned.I dont see a way to delete the photo either when logged in.

I agree. However.. What I *THINK* he has done, is taken a photo of the soldiers section of Cold Harbor National Cemetery and placed that on his memorial at Laurens City Cemetery.
Technically, the Laurens City memorial should be a Cenotaph if that's the case. But, just looking at the stone and memorial, I see no indication that he was buried in a mass grave in Cold Harbor.
Honestly, when I first looked at the photo, I thought that was the Christmas lights/tree they do right outside the cemetery across from the KFC every year.
I'm guessing you've seen lots of the edits i've submitted there. I've been walking the cemetery and GPS tagging every grave and photographing all that I can.. Found a fair number that weren't documented on Find A Grave at all, and a good number that had issues (be it spelling, dates, etc).. I should finish it up next weekend.
Assuming that a memorial 'owner' is able to remove photos.. I'd contact whoever the admin of the other copy is and ask them to remove that photo.
