My maternal side of the family has been researched, traced back to England, and published. My paternal side has, to my knowledge, never been documented. As a matter of fact, we were always told the "records were lost". Since genealogy is apparently in my blood, I decided to embark on the journey to discover the true history of the family I really never knew too well. I am researching the following surnames in Texas, Alabama, Oklahoma, and Tennessee...so far...: Marshall, Belt, Russell, Bolt, Callis, Dean, and Bell. I hope to preserve this heritage for my two wonderful children Michael James Wellman and Ariel Raquel Wellman.|

I am also researching my Marshall line...and like Sherry, I have done the ancestry.com DNA test.
I also have put my DNA and family tree on GEDMATCH. ..it's free, and lets you see which chromosomes show where the match is located.
I don't know if there is a way to add my male cousins DNA to Family Tree DNA Marshall project...but one of my male cousins has done that test too..but no matches so far.
I have tracked William Obediah Marshall to being born in 1784 in Barnstead,Belknap,NH according to the information HE gave on his War of 1812 enlistment paperwork!
My g grandfather Charles Amos Marshall went to Reno,Parker,TX about 1892, where son Lavina Aloyious "Lee" Marshall was born. I don't know if his daughter Goldie P. Marshall was born in Texas, or if he was already back in Missouri when she was born. He moved to Portland, Oregon about 1900...but my grandfather ran away and went to Kentucky.
If you do the ancestry.com DNA. ..and you see a match to marshkar56...please contact me!

I see so many Marshalls here! :) While researching my Marshall family I seen to always come across a grave that had an offering left by you so I figured we might as well try to see if there is a connection. Surnames I am researching are: Marshall, Fisher, Williams, McKnight, Bryner, Hiles, Hawk. Surnames that I believe I am connected to or that show as dna matches are: Russel, Shields, Lewis, Hall, Morrison, Myers, Thompson. My 2x great grandparents are Samuel Marshall b.1858 Phila,PA and Susan Hiles Hawk b.1844 Dunbar PA. d.1920. Samuel is a bit of a brick wall for me mainly since there were so many of them back then. If you have a tree on ancestry or did your DNA i would really love to compare!
Please contact me. I have what you are looking for on the Marshall side.
