|Old Bwana||RE: Sledge photos|
I hate to shatter your dreams. but the so called Sledge Cemetery is a real mess. No fence, most tombstones broken and many sunk into the ground and the others covered with mud and cow pies. I was amazed to find that I had taken those two. I'll go back through my photos and see if I can add any others. It is the kind of un-cared-for cemetery that probably has twice as many graves as are visible. My friend and I had to climb a very high fence to reach it and now that I am over 73 and have a make believe hip installed, I may not be able to return. Wish I had better news. Old Bwana

I have put two names in the first slot and two names in middle name space... with one name in last name slot. This usually will help in getting all four names on the memorial. OR Boren could go in maiden name space. See if that will work for you....at least his birth name will be on there.

I have located and photographed Wm. Augustus and I think I may have located Nancy... Do you happen to know what the "C" stands for? The grave I located shows as being a Nancy Clayton... The dates are worn, but seem to be in the ballpark. If your Nancy is a Clayton, I will contact the church for verification before posting to the site.

|J Thrasher McLachlan||Nellie M and John G James|
Would you mind adding the photo of the tombstone for John and Nellie to Nellie's memorial?
|J Thrasher McLachlan||RE: John James|
I'm really new to genealogy and have just begun researching the James part of my family tree. I'm afraid I don't have very much information yet. Ben James was my great-grandfather and I believe his parents were John Houston James and Margaret L. Steel James, and that John H's parents were Isaac James Sr. and Rhoda Ann Murphree James, but that's as far as I've gotten. I have access to ancestry.com through the library system at school. I've been using it to look up records and while it's an enormous help, some of the census data I find winds up leading to more questions. If I do find out anything about your James' connection, I'll let you know.

I was glad to do it. But why are you interested in Granddaddy? I may one or two of the only members of his family living who remembers him.
