Behr family
Betsy,
So upon further research it would appear that Frank & Rose Behr, the children of Louis, were not Frances Leiss' children, even though listed that way in the later Census records. Their mother, Theresa, died in 1891 when they were young. It appears Rose lived a checkered life. There is a 1933 NY marriage license (showing Theresa Illig as her mother) for her and an Emil Fuhrmann which shows she divorced a Rice Parker in 1928. However, I also found an Erie city directory from 1922 and the 1930 US Census that shows her with Mr. Fuhrmann. There is a 1916 Erie city directory that shows her living with Mr. Parker.

Louis Behr
Betsy,
I see that Louis was married twice. First to Theresa Illig and 2nd to Frances Leiss. I am guessing that Theresa died in childbirth along with the baby as her marker says "and baby". Are Frank J And Rose M, Louis'children with Frances or Theresa? In the 1900 US Census it says Louis and Frances had been married 14 years, so 1886. Frank J was born in 1889, Theresa (1st wife) died in 1891. Frank J death certificate says Theresa (not Frances) was his mother ???

Catherine Leiss Schriefer
Betsy,
I was wondering if I could maintain the memorial you created for Catherine (Leiss) Schriefer? She is my great-grandmother.

I do not have access to cemetery records, I just transcribed the Painted Hills Genealogy Society cemetery record. I can add the info as a possibility it is the same person.

Thanks for your note, Betsy. On the memorial I had written that cemetery records gave year of "death" as 1852, and I meant to say "birth." I've fixed that. As you've noted, the records give his birth as 07/09/1852. However, the stone gives his birth year as 1851, so that is what I've used (as per findagrave guidelines), noting the alternate date in the notes.

Catherine Leiss
Betsy it looks like you added the record for a Sebastian Leiss in the Trinity Cemetery in Erie, PA. He is an ancestor of ours. We were actually at the cemetery in July 2011. However, we did not find the grave marker for Sebastian's wife Catherine or Katherine [Berlinger or Burlinger maiden name] and the office was closed. Do you know anything about that?
