Bio Photo If you find any errors I've posted on Find A Grave please email me. Feel free to question any of the information I've entered. Everything is accurate to the best of my knowledge, but one never knows.

I began collecting information about my ancestry after my beloved grandfather, Jessie A. James, passed away in 1972. By this time I was living in Georgia with my Mother and younger sister. I would take my composition notebooks whenever we would visit relatives in Alabama and ask questions and take notes. I'm sure I was a pest!

As an adult I became caught up in the daily requirements of making a living, tending a home and operating under the belief I would live forever with plenty of time after retirement to work on my genealogy. Needless to say, research and documentation were pushed aside as I made my mark on the world. Through the years, these worn and yellowed notebooks sat quietly and waited for me to return to them. In 2003 I picked it up again with a passion to learn as much as I could about my lineage and share this information with anyone who may be interested. So here we stand.

Please be aware that after my demise my sister Jean James Kimball will be the custodian of all my research materials. Otherwise, if circumstances differ, I plan to donate everything to the National Archives here in Georgia. She and I encourage everyone to contact her with new information and current events. Thank you for your help and cooperation in maintaining an accurate and reliable record of our heritage.

Are any of your family members of the Johnson, Manley, Gibson, or Nix families? I remember the last name of James somewhere, but it could have just been such a distant relative, that I havn't connected it yet. Your picture looks like me. We favor at that age. I am guessing of course.

Most of my family pictures have been destroyed or lost over the years.

RE: Ruby Adams James
I believe that we are talking about the same person. I have John W. Adams born 16 Sep 1875 and died 16 Sep 1955. He is buried at Barrytown Cemetery. His wife is Nancy Louella (Sikes) Adams. They had a daughter names Ruby. And since your Ruby was an Adams and her parents were John and Lou Ella, I am finding far too many coincidences for them not to be the same people. Yayyy! It is always fun and exciting to me to make a connection. :)

Could that be Nancy Lou Ella for the mother? I have a John W. Adams who had a daughter named Ruby. His wife was Nancy L. Adams. Do you happen to know any of the names for Ruby's siblings? The ones I have are: Walter, Amos, Magilene, and Frank.

Thank you for adding the pictures that you did on this site. My grandfather was Berbon Hubert James, and the two pictures of him, as an adult with MawMaw, and as a child with his entire family, were awesome. I am reasonably certain, based on the ages of the children in the family pic, that my PawPaw is the younger boy just to the left of his Dad. I loved my PawPaw very much, in fact, my grandchildren call me PawPaw in his memory and honor. Again, than you much.

RE: Cynthia Dooly/Dooley
Thank you for your reply. Her siblings seem to be very elusive. Can you confirm where the information for her parents originated? There is no firm validation that I am aware of. I was working with the James family a couple of years back and my work linking John and Synthia to her as parents is an educated assumption using all research found for her. But, nowhere did I find documents stating who her parents were. Thanks for your assistance.

Cynthia Dooly/Dooley
Hello. I am a Dooley. I was working with someone from the James family a couple of years ago when we both decided this Cynthia was possibly My GGGrandfather's sister. Do you have any more information about her? My GGGrandfather was Elijah and the youngest child of that family. Anything at all would help me kick that brick wall's butt!! Thanks in advance. Email is

Let me know what you think once you look at it. It's been a long time since I worked on this branch.
