Ruth Briggs I just started doing genealogy this past year. My brother did alot when he was alive and I didn't want all his hard work to be lost so I am trying to add to his. I have been married for 41 years 4 daughters and 10 grandchildren who like to go help grandma find the tombstones.

You're most welcome, Ruth. We love bringing these stones to life, and when there is no stone, we wonder why. Didn't get to that part of the cemetery today as we had some tough stones to decipher, but we will get there! :) And it won't be long. I hope we'll have some free time this weekend. The rest of the week kind of stacked up on us!

Mrs Elizabeth Ann Townsend Hamilton, "Lizzie" wife of Leonard B. Hamilton and pioneer resident of the Hennessey community, died at her home in Hennessey, Wednesday July 24, at the age of 78 years. She had been ill three years and confined to her bed for fifteen months preceding her death.

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the Methodist church. Rev. C. A, Perkins, pastor of the church will assist in the service by the Rev. Wallace Linton, pastor of the Union Chapel church. Internment will be in the Hennessey cemetery.

Lizzie Ann Hamilton was the daughter of Robert and Rosa Gilmore Townsend was born near Tabor, Iowa on Aug. 16, 1861. She departed this life at her home in Hennessey on July 24, 1940 at the age of 78 years, 11 months and 8 days.

She was four years old when the family moved to Rockford Missouri. On Feb. 15, 1883 she was united in marriage with Leonard B. Hamilton. Four children were born to them, Walter B., Roy Alva, Nora and Lester. Roy and Lester preceded her in death.

She was converted and united with the Methodist church at an early age and remained a faithfull worker until illiness and death first limited and then ended her earthly activies.

Leonard Benona Hamilton, 88, pioneer resident of the Hennessey community, passed away at his home Friday evening at 7:30 o'clock after a brief illness.

Funeral services were held at 2:30 o'clock at the Methodist church with the pastor, Rev. Carl Cartwright officiating. Internment was made in the Hennessey cemetery.

Leonard Benona Hamilton was born Aug. 6, 1858 near Springfield, IL. The son of Aquilla B. and Nancy Thompson Hamilton, he

married Lizzie Townsend Feb. 15 1883 in Rockport, MO. Four children were born to this union, three boys and one girl.
He entered into rest on Dec. 27, 1946 at the age of 88 years, three months and twenty-one days.

He is survived by one son, Walter B. Hamilton of Enid, one daughter, Nora Mae Hamilton Lindley Maddux of Hennessey. He also lives a half brother, Clyde R. Hamilton of Brooklyn, New York, and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by wife, and two sons, Roy, and Lester.

Brother Hamilton has made his home in Hennessey for the past twenty years and a host of friends join the family in mourning his departure.

Ruth - Thank you for your message. My Briggs came to MA on the ship (or two) after the Mayflower. They traveled to New Hampshire. My Mom's Dad was a Briggs and he was born in NH.

Frank Armstrong, 77, died this morning at the Stine Nursing Home.

Funeral arrangements will be announced later by the McVey Funeral Home.

Mr. Armstrong, the son of James and Mary Livingston Armstrong, born Feb. 28th, 1882, in Nebraska, had lived in Emporia most of his life. Surviving is one sister, Mrs. E. C. Judd , Bushong.

Funeral services for Frank Armstrong, who died Monday morning in the Stine Nursing Home, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the McVey Chapel. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery.

Funeral services for Frank Armstrong, Stine's Nursing Home, who died Monday, were held Wednesday afternoon in the McVey Chapel, conducted by the Rev. steward Reed, pastor of the First Church of the Nazarene. Mrs. Harry Richmond played organ selections. Pallbearers were Martin, Marvin and Clayton Coop, Mark Lobaugh, William Fenton and W. J. Reynolds. Burial was in Maplewood Cemetery.

Out-of-town relatives attending were Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Judd, Martin, Marvin, Clayton, Kenny and Lucille Coop, Bushong.
