I am, at least in my family, the recorder of family history. If that is a genealogist then that's what I do for a hobby. I am a 5th generation Georgian and am concentrating on the following surnames: Chatham(Franklin to Forsyth to Milton Cos., GA) , Dickerson, Keener, Thurmond(Jackson to White to Rabun Co., GA), Jones(Hall to Cherokee Co., GA and Pickens Co., GA), Holcombe, Hendricks, Chastain, Goss,Allen( all 4 in Habersham and White Co., GA to Cherokee), Cheek (ended up in Fulton Co., GA), Poole, Eason, Rosser (Hancock and Henry Co, GA), Tollerson(Monroe Co.GA), Shaw (Jasper and Henry Co., GA), Austin (Henry Co.GA), Dillard (Rabun Co., GA), Smith, and Williams(Habersham and White Co.GA), to name a few. Please feel free to e-mail me any questions on the mentioned names and who knows, we might end up "cousins"

RE: Daniel & Sarah F. Rosser
Thanks so much for your reply. I am adding the Rossers to my family tree in ancestry and will let you know if I have questions. OK if I let my brother in law Paul have your email? He met some of them also when he was a kid. He & my sister Angie still live in Ga. Thanks again, Earl

Hi, I'm doing research for my brother in law and these are his 2nd great grandparents. Are you a relative of Daniel & Sarah? My brother in law is Paul Williams and is the grandson of Emory Lee Jeffears, his mother is Verna Jeffares Williams. Thanks, Earl

Hello, as far as I know, Emily Roberts Hendrix, is in the 1850 census under Emily Roberts. Hopefully, it's the right one.
Also, is the father of William G Hendrix named Absalom Hendrix? I haven't found a source.

Good Morning, Humphrey Cheatham is my 13th Great grandfather. I am trying to get as much information as I can on this side of my family. Can you help me? I need to know who his parents are and children and whatever else you can give me. Thank you in advance for any information.

RE: Emily Roberts Hendricks/Hendrix
Hi, truegagirl! Unfortunately, I don't have the original source of Emley Hendrix' maiden name of Roberts. I asked to maintain the "graves" of Emley and her husband William G. because they are my great-grandparents. Their daughter Ida, who married Marion Nathaniel Wood, is my grandmother. Their son William Harold (deceased) is my father. In looking back through my father's written family history, I found no reference to Emley's maiden name, but my mother said she remembers my father saying that his grandmother's maiden name was Roberts. I wish I had more to offer you. Good luck with your researching.

Note: He was Sheriff, founder of the Blue Coat School, and the Manchester Hospital and Chetham Library and township that bears his name. Chetham (note: original spelling with no "a" - also later Cheetham) translates in old English to mean "homestead granted by the monarchy". "Escheats" are land grands awarded by the monarchy as reward for their loyal service to the crown. "Ham" indicated a village or homestead. Coat of Arms lists "Quod Tuum Tene" ("Keep what is your own") as family motto on Coat of Arms, which was registered during the Crusades by Edward I. The authentic Coat of Arms (which was often revised upon marriages)must include en rampant Lions (knights), the silver Cross of Mercy on a black shield (defenders of the Faith), and the symbol of the Barbers and Surgeons (an opened straight razor)in one quadrant. It is generally crowned by an armour helmut and en rampant griffon tassel.
"Humphrey Chetham himself never married, whilst George I [his brother] married a
close kinswoman {Isabel Chetham of Nuthurst]. Amongst Humphrey's immediate
family, his most valued relationship was probably with his younger brother,
Ralph. xxx Since the marriages of the other Chetham brothers remained childless,
the children of Ralph Chetham became Humphrey's direct heirs."
