Bio and Links
Bio Photo Hi .. I found this site by a mutual researcher sending me the link and found it to be a GREAT asset! I enjoy doing family research so much I started collecting all records, pictures and what ever on my surname NANCE, and other variations of spelling NANCES/NANTZ/NANTS ect...

❤ *=^..^=*.❤❤.*=^..^=* ❤

I would be glad to add to or update bio information for that individual or transfer (If not my own relatives) ownership of the ones I have added. ALSO I have sent in hundreds of additions/corrections to memorials. PLEASE SEND NAME & MEMORIAL # with any request or replies to these additions/corrections I have sent.

❤ *=^..^=*.❤❤.*=^..^=* ❤

If I have put a flower on any NANCE/NANTZ/NANTS ect, I probably have info. to share. as I research all these lines. ONLY ON THE NANCE SIDES. PLEASE SEND MEMORIAL # with request, I have put flowers on over 14,000+ memorials. thanks :) I am the admin. of a group NANCE (surname) From Around the World on Facebook for those researching NANCE lines. This is a private group for Nance researchers so you will have to send me a private message to get in.

❤ *=^..^=*.❤❤.*=^..^=* ❤

THANK YOU! To those who fill photo request and those who correct mistakes, and removing duplicates!!

❤ *=^..^=*.❤❤.*=^..^=* ❤

For the rest of you people what's up with you? You don't own any of these memorials!! And your NOT the only one related!!!

I get so tired of hearing people say they wont delete a duplicate memorial because.. {for whatever reason!!}.

Per F.A.G. rules.. You should never deliberately create a duplicate memorial. You should use the tools provided to submit corrections, additions or a transfer request via the "Suggest A Correction" link under the 'Edit' tab on the upper right of the memorial. !! THIS MEANS YOU TOO!! Even if you do have more information! I find this as YOU being inconsiderate to those who created the original, for all you know they are related too.. ALSO do a search for the person your about to add by name and one of the known years, birth or death, not just search the cemetery your about to add them to. Some people create memorials for family members they don't know where they are buried. I am not impressed by numbers, more impressed by accuracy and willingness to be helpful!!

If the duplicates end up getting merged it sometimes creates 2 people listed with same name under parents, depending on how people are attached to each other.. Example: Susannah Williams Minter Find A Grave Memorial# 100742497 has 2 Siblings for her ( Amy Williams Nance (1747 - 1786)) with same name when her memorial was merged.. It looks tacky to me!

There was a problem with Find A Grave and the below "Website" link when I go to "Edit My Profile" there is no quote entered before my URL. This is an issue in how Find A Grave has written the page, not in my input ..

RE: Ed M. Nance
That info is shown on the North Carolina, County Marriages 1762-1979 for Penelope Jane Nancy's marriage to Hayes Hester in 1883. It shows her parents as Ed. Nance and Rhoda Nance. Rhoda's maiden name was Shepherd. They lived in a place referred to at Tatoms, Columbus County, NC. It is right next to Robeson County, NC. My Aunt who has recently passed away had Penelope's portrait and I was able to make a copy. It is my treasure! I also have her daughter's portrait, my great grandma Penelope Jane Hester Freeman. I knew her very well. You are just such a wonderful person to facilitate such a helpful and robust Facebook page and Find A Grave. I asked to be friend of your Nance Facebook Page. Maybe someone on there might know something. I know where her mother Rhoda Shepherd is buried, I have visited a grave a few years ago. Alas her daughter's is lost.

Nance Family
Dear Sonia,

Just wondering if you have done any research on the Nance lineage back to Jamestowne and before? I had begun researching but set it aside a while back. There are so many lines and so little time. I am sure you can relate. Thanks again, Bonnie

RE: Ed M. Nance
Greetings Sonia and Thank You for your swift response. I also saw that same info regarding a Richard Nance and Rhida. I believe all of that is incorrect. The family story indicates it was an Ed Nance sometimes I seem to remember the name of Winn as well, but for certain Ed Nance. On the county records reflecting the marriage of Penelope Jane Nance, their daughter, Rhoda and Ed are listed as her parents. Then the story goes, he left Rjoda, ran off with another lady, divorced Rhoda, lived in Robeson County, then left for Georgia. My Aunt who died about 2 years ago always told me this. I will keep digging but it is like chasing smoke, lol. I think you are probably right though about the Ed buried in Savannah cemetery. Dang!

Ed M. Nance
Dear Sonia,

I am researching a paternal 3rd Great Grandfather, Ed Nance who married my 3rd Great grandmother, Rhoda Shepherd of Tatoms, Columbus County, NC. They had a daughter named Penelope Jane Nance who married Hayes Hester in 1883 and died after 4 days in 1885 after giving birth to their daughter, Penelope Jane Hester (Freeman). I am trying to locate any information regarding their marriage and later divorce decree. The story is that Ed Nance left Rhoda for another lady, lived in Robeson County, NC with her and then they moved to Georgia. I think possibly this Ed M. Nance buried in Bonaventure Cemetery might be a possible lead. I see that you are very steeped in Nance genealogy and am hoping you might have some information or insight.

Thanks in advance, Bonnie Bridger Mittelmaier

Alex East / Galen East
Hi, I see you created the memorial for Alex East (, and I also see in a message you asked someone about his parents - Galen and Nancy East. Did you ever find out any information about Galen (which has also been spelled Gaildren, Galam, Galin and Gaylen, although Galen is what is used most often in the censuses). I'm also looking for information on who his parents were.

Joseph w nance was my dad and Edna Wallace nance was his wife. John I nance and Alice f. Nance were my grandparents.

My dad and grandfather was only children as I was. I have a baby brother who was born on 9/11/1952 and died on 9/13/1951. As far as I know there are no other family members never met any. So they do belong to me.
