Bio and Links
Bio Photo My grandmother, Nellie Witt Spikes (a pioneer of Crosby County, Texas and noted historian who coauthored Throughout the Years: A History of Crosby County) left me a large amount of information that she compiled about our family history, which has proven to be extremely accurate. She accumulated this information from various family members, visiting cemeteries, and letters of request from different agencies beginning in the 1940's. My husband, Darrell, and I feel privileged in organizing and printing this information for our family. We have found Find A Grave to be a valuable tool and have enjoyed adding information for others.

RE: Charity Witt
Hello Margaret,

The Rev. John Witt is also a relative of mine, my uncle dating back many generations. Perhaps we are cousins? Good luck in your research!

Wheeler & Shaw Cousins
Just ran across your 3G Grandmother (Catherine Elliott Shaw). Saw that you sponsored it and looked at your profile. We are connected both thru Shaw side and Wheelers! Paul Ellis Wheeler was my 3rd cousin 1xremoved. Confirms, It's a small world!

The Lancasters
I, too, am the 3rd great-grandchild of John and Clarisa Lancaster. My grandmother was Beaulah Tabitha Lancaster, daughter of Tobe and Millie Lancaster, both buried in Mt. View, AR, birthplace of my mother.

That can't be the picture of a man born in the 17th century! There were no pictures taken then. And even if it were a portrait, it wouldn't be the portrait of a 17th century man! Look at the dress and hair style!!

Thanks so much for reminding me that "many entries on Ancestry do not a fact make". Sometimes I succumb to the sheer number of entries claiming that ABC is the parent of XYZ. You reminded me that I must never do this...

Best,

John C Witt Sponsorship
I want to take a minute to publicly thank you for the sponsorship of my great-great grandfather John Christopher Witt's Find A Grave memorial. That was a very kind thing and we sincerely appreciate your kindness. I am curious how grandfather John is related to you kind folks. You can reach me here on Find A Grave or via email at familyhistorian at frontier dot net. Cousin Larry
