I have been very envolved in searching down my ancestors for 30 years. Finding a new cemetery is very exciting and when I find a new little one I over indulge and tend to photograph the entire site. My pictures and Internments are all individuals that have somehow found their way into my ever growing family tree.|
Currently I live in Eastern Iowa along the Mississippi River which is a wonderful starting place for journeys in search of my early ancestors.
I hope you enjoy my pictures and the information I have tried to share

I have an interest in the parents and grandparents of Anna Butts. I think Anna's grandfather was Jeremiah Coonan from Tipperary. Can you confirm this? Jeremiah and wife Catherine are connected to the Kennedy and Gibson families on records from Wellington, Ontario, Canada.

You're very welcome! Always happy to help. This was the only stone at that grave, but it's clearly very recent -- much more so than 1899, so it might not have been placed there by someone who knew him well. Perhaps he had two middle names?
The other information on the memorial is what I could find through documentation on Ancestry -- I try to do that with all of the memorials I create so that family can find them easier, like you did. :)
I will be back in Vermillion beginning in 2 weeks, so if you want me to go back and see if I can find any other family members, I'd be happy to do so. Also, if you'd like me to transfer his or any other memorials, just let me know!

Mark, Totally understand the hesitation to make a change to your record. You sound like me...unless you can see it, feel it, source it, the info is not going into your tree.
Researching my KY/OH Rose family for 40 yrs, I don't add anything unless I can document it from a reliable source...I don't "cut and paste" from someone else's tree. So on that note, Alice Goosey's OH death certificate states she was born on 3/27/1866 and died on Wed 8/26/1931 at 1:08 AM of Typhoid Fever. The newspaper article was probably the afternoon paper printed the day she died.
On her DOB, I am more swayed to believed the Mar 27, 1866 date on her Death Certificate than the Nov date on the 1900 Census. Husband's don't always remember the DOB and he gave the info to the Census taker. Also, if she was born in Nov of 1866, than her brother Curtis would have been born exactly 9 months after her. Possible, but not probable. Her kids seem to be born at least 1 yr apart.
Let me know what you think. Also, what other Rose's are in your tree. I descend from Nathaniel (1775), Edward (1817, Perry (1839), Shelton (1864), Stella (1899), Lester (1920) than me.

It's the map location and address. Your memorials and pictures were placed in one of the Miller Cemetery down in the valley. They need to be moved to Miller Cemetery with a map location up on the mountain at the plantation where you took them. Sorry for the confusion. If I can help let me know. Thanks!
|Loyal Limb||Roan Mountain Miller Cemeteries|
There are at least four Miller Cemeteries in the Roan Mountain area. Itís easy to get them mixed up but for people using find a grave to find and visit peopleís graves location is important.
All of the following memorials you manage that are in the Miller cemetery on Heaton Creak Road (http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=cr&CRid=15637) and the cemetery picture you added there belong in the Miller Cemetery on the Miller Plantion at this link (http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=cr&GScid=15654&GRid=147225145&CRid=15654&). You can transfer the memorial to the correct cemetery by using the (edit burial) key on the memorial.
I wish there was an easier way to make the corrections but I can't think of one that won't create other problems to fix correct. I live in the area and have been working for a couple of years to sort out the Carter County Find a Grave cemetery issues. We've made progress but there is still lots of work to do. Thanks so much for your help. I'll get find a grave to correct the cemetery picture. Thanks so much for your help.

Thanks so much, Mark!
Asbury is my hometown/homestead where my parents farmed for 26 yrs before selling and moving to Cedar Rapids. Although I am currently a couple states away, we already have a headstone in place in the Asbury Cemetery, which is where I'll eventually be returned home, lol!

Hi Mr. Bennett,
I'm adding documents and references to my Ancestry.com account family tree and came across this memorial of my paternal grandfather.
I was wondering, first of all, if you would be willing to transfer it to me?
His birth date is actually Oct. 17, 1891 - but is listed as Sept. 1892, even though a photo of the grave marker contradicts it, lol!
I look forward to your reply.
