Fallen Graver

Sadly, Edwina has passed away. Please consider visiting their Find a Grave memorial page and leaving some virtual flowers. Their enthusiasm for cemeteries and willingness to help future generations lives on through their contributions to Find a Grave.

Bio

I have been doing genealogy research for over 30 years and it's taught me so much more than just who my ancestors were. I've learned history, geography, population dynamics, how profoundly horrible the Civil War was (as all war is), how to read really bad handwriting, and most of all, patience. It's like being a detective and I love to solve puzzles. I am researching the surnames Olvey/Alvey/Olvy, Wheeler, Williams, Gray, Sale, McBride, Martin, Hicks, Armstrong, Swaim/Swim, Sturdivant, Brown, Sparks. If you spot my mistakes or want to add information on anyone, please let me know at my email address or leave a message.

I am not one who believes this web site is a numbers competion. If you transfer a memorial to a family member outside the confines of FAG's stated rules, it does not subtract that transfer from your total. And I firmly believe that the vast majority of contributors to this site, do so overwhelmingly to contribute genealogy information. I think the rules for transferring should be changed. If you are simply entering the information from daily obituaries to see how many memorials you can own, and you are not at all related to the deceased, why would you care if someone who is related-in any way-would want to care for that memorial? Why would you refuse them that desire? After all, what you are doing is a voluntary choice, so refusing because it's your time or gas or shoe leather or whatever, it's strictly your choice. And nowhere in the FAG rules does it say it's a competition.
