Bio Photo "It is not about me, but those who have been a part of my life - they made me who I am today" Paula M Brown

My given name is Paulina Margareta Lukosius and my married name is Paula M Brown. I was born in Caracas, Venezuela and came to the U.S. when I was 8 months old and my family settled in Chicago, IL. In about 1985, I started putting together charts and biographies of maternal and paternal families so that my children, grandchildren and beyond can benefit from the work that has been done.

What started with my family, as well as my husband's family has turned into helping others to preserve their history and documents. This is definitely an addicting hobby that has a labor of love value attached to it. This has been such a wonderful hobby for me, not to mention the wonderful people that I have met and become friends with.

I have learned so much through the dead that I have really come to enjoy History, a subject I was never really found of when I was a child. I love visiting cemeteries and even more so helping other preserve their family history.

Thomas Bedford & Mary Ligon Coleman Bedford
The website for Oakwood Cemetery in Charlotte, VA, states "Oakwood Cemetery opened in the early 1860s." Thomas Bedford (d.1785) and Mary Ligon Coleman Bedford (d.1769) so, unless they were moved, how could they be buried at Oakwood? There is also a prior memorial to Col. Thomas Bedford, #37755157, stating that Thomas Bedford is buried on his property at Locust Grove. I do not know if Mary Ligon Coleman is buried there, but there is a book stating she died giving birth to his son Archibald in Nov. 1769, so she is probably buried on whatever property he owned in 1769. She is the mother of all his children up to Archibald. Thomas married his second wife, Drucilla Williamson, in 1775, and they had three more children before his death.

Your memorial is a duplicate but okay - I'll comply.

George Harlan - Memorial# 63840371: death date for George Harlan.
Regarding the death date for George Harlan, the dates stated in the original prove (probate) record followed the Quaker (Julian) calendar used by the Quakers prior to 1752, in which the 1st date of the month was March. The orig Will date was stated as “One & twentieth day of the second month called Aprill in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred & ffourteen, meaning 21 April 1714; the prove (probate) date was stated as “second day of the eighth month Anno Dom 1714”, meaning 2 October 1714. George Harlan therefore died between 21 April 1714 (date of his Will) and 2 October 1714 (probate date). With thanks for the work you have done to honor the family of George Harlan.

Mary Escher
You created a Find A Grave for Eleanor Ruth Hood May.

Can you tell me, are you related to her and the family?

If not, do you know of anyone that is related to the Hood family?

Thanks so much
