** I will be away from Find a Grave for an unknown period of time. I will tend to all requests and edits as soon as I am able. **|
My name is Vickie. I grew up in Swannanoa, N.C. and now I live in Asheville. I enjoy researching family history and walking through cemeteries to read stones. Everyone deserves to be remembered. Someone somewhere loved them. Thanks to the great contributors here at Find a Grave, I have been able to see the graves of many family members that I would have never seen if it wasn't for their generosity. It is so nice to be able to visit a loved one's grave and not even leave the house.
If any of my memorials contain errors, or if you have information to add, please send me a message or an edit. All memorials are done with the utmost respect of those who have passed on and those of us left behind.

When my soul is restless
And things seem out of line,
I visit an old graveyard
To take a mystical step back in time.
I find the oldest tombstones
Then read the messages there;
I consider what their days had been
And how our lives in ways compare.
We all have lived though heartaches
As well as episodes of fun;
Surviving loss of loved ones,
And rewarded for a job well done.
Sometimes if I'm very still
I can hear what they have to say
And feel them reaching out to me
Grateful for my momentary stay.

I am searching for living members of the Griffith side of my family. Was impressed with the detail on this Memorial Page and it led me to hope you might have some family connection or know someone connected. ELma's husband Joseph Entzminger Griffith is my 2nd great uncle. I lost track of my 2nd great grandfather and cannot find out what became of him and was hoping someone in the family would know. If you could make a connection I'd very much appreciate it. Thanks to your post of this memorial page, I have finally some hope of connecting. Thanks, Sharon
|Kate Leslie||Verna Ellen Coates|
I want to thank you for finding Verna's gravesite. I've been heartsick trying to find it.
Verna was my nanny that eventually turned into a grandmother figure for me. We sadly lost touch and I've been trying to find her for a while. I didn't even know that she had passed until her attorney was able to track me down about a year after but she didn't have information as to where she was resting.
Finding where she is has brought peace to my mind and I love going to visit her and talk to her. I might not be able to get a response back but I can feel her around me while I'm there. Her perfume always seems to permeate the air when I'm visiting. I'm sure it's all in my head but I like to think that she's come to visit with me, too. It's those moments with her there that I get to cherish now because you found her for me.
Sorry for the long story but I felt like you needed to know how much this really does mean to me.

You're welcome, but her husband already had one created by someone else in the same cemetery you originally had her in. I sent him a message as well and already added the picture to it. Thanks.

I am so sorry for not getting back to you... my profile was directed to an old email address... I would never ignore a request from you. It looks like they have been merged. Again, I am so sorry for the delay.
|Jim Geary||William L. Guest|
This is a long shot as I see this William was born in Wake Co.
I'll ask anyway.
Someone from France contacted our historical museum, Franklin, NC via Facebook about a dog tag he found for William L. Guest. He wants to return it to the family. Was your William in the Army and served in France during WWII? Do you have his serial number? The last 5 of the one we have is 64 T43. This William was born in Georgia in 1922. You can contact me by my email: email@example.com.

Thank you for the information for Susan. I appreciate your contribution and have uploaded it on her memorial.

Thank you for the edits on the above. I am concerned about the link to his supposed mother. The SS Appl and Claims Ind. says she was Mary High and the father was Paul Waters. The NC Birth Ind says his father is Richard Glover and does not list a mother. May I please ask where you got the info you did from? I strive to only add the correct info and therefore need to ask you for documentation. Thank you for your time and for making memorials better! Blessings!
I see on Find a Grave that you are interested in Samuel McDowell. are you aware that we are having a McDowell family reunion September 21 -24 2017 in Danville. Contact me for details
