I worked in a funeral home for almost 30 years during which time many hours were spent searching records the old way, book by book; by index typed or hand written. It was always interesting finding the information for the families. |
My own family tree began in the early 80's but started getting serious about 3 years ago when my family started getting smaller. I started with only a name of my great grandmother; her bible; a handful of photos and it snowballed from there. I have located several cousins from my grandmother's side of her family and they both have been a great help providing more information & photographs.
Our family history names includes Ratzlaff; Alley/Allee/Bridgewater/Bridgewaters /Drummond/ McGee/McGehee; Spining/Spinning/Spinage/Spenning/Spening/Spinnage; Anton; Walker; McClure; Cowan. Many are from Chicago, IL; New Jersey; Fountain County, IN.; Virginia; Sanduscky, MI; many areas in Kansas; Davenport, WA and Spokane, WA.
When I joined find a grave, I was so pleased at the sucess of finding other family. So I have been contributing by adding my family to find a grave for others to find.
A copy of my family tree will be given to Davenport Museum, Davenport, Lincoln Co. WA and to the Wilbur Museum, Wilbur, Lincoln Co. WA. My family are Lincoln County Pioneers and many generations are still scattered throughout Washington State.

George Tobias Anton
son - Douglas (no middle name) Anton
grandson - Douglas George Anton
The grandson, Douglas George Anton, was the actual Anton genealogist.
I am the grandson of Douglas (no middle name) Anton and the nephew of Douglas George Anton. I worked quite closely with my Uncle Doug in helping to compile much of the information about the Antons. My mother is the daughter of Douglas Anton and Sarah Rice as well as the sister of Douglas George Anton. Any information you may have on the family would be of great interest to me. I would love to talk.

You are very welcome. I love genealogy and I love being able to post pictures of relatives as well as non-relatives because I have learned so much about all kinds of people from all walks of life.
I think it's great when people take pictures of headstones, add to find a grave, and information about people. Years from now, it will be something others can benefit from and I am all for that. As I have seen over the last few years, the older the headstones are hard to read or cant be read any longer and I think they need to be photographed while legable so future generations can see what was originally written on the headstones should they ever become un-readable.
Thanks for being part of find a grave,

Surprised to see my Uncle Doug at Janet Drumond's memorial. Doug is my maternal uncle. Thanks for keeping up Janet's memorial.

I'm afraid I don't have any info that would help with the marriage of Janet's daughter Ellen. I'll keep a watch for it, and do some searches.
I see you know Janet was Janet Drummond when she married James Anton. Janet Drummond's mother was born in Scotland, and her mother was born as Helen Anderson (it was Ellen when they emigrated). Helen/Ellen Anderson born 1831 married Alexander Drummond in 1850, and they were in various places for a time until settling in London, Middlesex, Ontario. But, Helen/Ellen Anderson's mother was Elizabeth Drummond. Elizabeth Drummond was my GG Grandmother Helen/Ellen Drummond's sister, and Helen/Ellen Drummond born 1800 was married to my GG Grandfather Matthew Todd.
Well, this gets complicated, and I don't want to confuse you too much if you're not familiar yet with that side of the family. But, I can fill you in on that side of the family going back a ways in Scotland.
I am in touch with people who are related to Janet Drummond Anton's siblings. One is a lady in England who is related to Janet's Brother James Drummond, and another lady's husband in Idaho is related to Janet's sister Mary Jane Griffin Drummond Rogers. I also have info on some of the other children I can share.
Another Brother of Janet's was Anderson Drummond who lived in Montana. After he died a Son of his was sent to James and Janet Anton, and they raised Malcolm Drummond after he came to them.
I would be very interested in exchanging some photos. My email is: email@example.com

I was going to attempt that this summer, but didn't get it done for you. Soon as good weather.
|Tom McMillan||Janet Drummond Anton|
Janet Drummond's Mother who was Ellen/Helen (Anderson) Drummond, was my GG Grandmother's niece.
I do have some ancestry info for Ellen/Helen, and I am in contact with other descendents from Ellen/Helen's ancestor's.
If you're interested, let me know, and I can let you know about relationships and such.
Thanks!! Tom McMillan (Washougal, WA)
