I see you are doing a fabulous job preserving family records from your Bio! Thank you for all your work!
I entered Mollie's info into find-a-grave as I returned from her funeral last week, I haven't scanned a photo in, because I wanted her twin Granddaughters to pick one they liked! . . . which I will do.
She and I were neighbors and dear friends for 40 years.
I'm not sure how this works, when an entry has been duplicated.
Thanks - Lynda Perry
Hi, I cannot find a record to show that John D. Austin's parents were Stephen and Anna Lamb Austin. I do find info leading me to believe his parents were William Austin and Sarah Qualls.
Can you point me in the direction of the book you reference? Thanks so much!

|Deborah In Search Of||Alexander Strickland|
L D Strickland Confederate pension application says he moved to Ga Dec 24, 1840. There are two applications the second of which says he was born in Fannin County, GA and Union County, GA which might place Alexander there prior to 1850. |Darlene Vinson||2 Stricklad family grave site for your records|
I don't know if you have John William or my step grandmother, Julia Whitley Strickland's grave sites for your records or not.
They are both buried at Harrell Grove Church and cemetery in Douglas, Ga. Along with many other Strickland family's graves.
How my grandparents ended up in southeast Ga., from north Ga., I have no idea, nor does any of my cousins that are the siblings of my daddys brother and sisters. Another dead end so far for me to try to find out.
|Darlene Vinson||RE: What I have now.|
We know Laura Vann or Vanna Evans Strickland (D:1920) and her little girl Addy Mary (D:1917) are buried at High Shoals but have no markers on their graves. A number of years back my sister, who's named after Laura, went to High Shoals and found both their graves with the help of a gentleman that had the plats of the graves and found them with the help of some type of instrument used to find graves. Plus her name is on the census of 1920 before her death. My dads name is also on that census as he went home to see his mom before her death. Both she and Addy Mary died of Swine Flu. I am getting help from the Clerk of High Shoals in hopes she can help me find out more about Laura as its now a historical town and they are trying to get the Family's names that first settled there. I am hoping that she and the Mayor, who's family first settled there, are going to find out more for me.
In case you are related to me: HI CUZ! Nice to meet you! :-)
So far its been a positive feeling to find out more about Daddy's family as its not been researched by any family member I know. Daddy's family's been like a mystery to solve as not much was ever mentioned or talked about them even when we would ask questions of the Aunts & Uncles before they passed they would give us no answers. We all feel like there's Strickland secrets they didn't want us to know. Me being Daddy's baby girl and hard headed/stubborn as he was :-) am determined to find out all I can.
Again thank you for answering my questions to you. Have a blessed day.
|Darlene Vinson||What I have now.|
Father: Clifford E. Strickland 1909-1965
Grandparents: John William Strickland 1885-1951
Laura Vanna Evans Strickland 1891-1920 (we are stuck on her parents. If you have knowledge on her family please share it with us. Laura and a daughter, Addy Mary are buried at High Shoals cemetery in High Shoals, Ga.)
2 nd grandmother is Julia Whitley Malcolm Strickland 1896-1971
Great grandparents: John Monroe Strickland 1860-? and Sarah J. Dunaway 1861-1900.
2 nd great grandparents: Ansel Butler Strickland 1814-1863
1st wife: Elizabeth Strickland ( again we can't find any more info on her)
2 nd wife: Mary Polly Braswell Strickland 1833-1853
3rd great grandparents: Bennett Strickland and Nancy Strickland..no other info on them yet either.
4th great grandfather is Ansel Bennett. Our problem here is there are 2 of them with the same dates..but children names are all mixed up with some names on both. We are trying to sort that out now.
Its def. been a challenge to get as far as we have. Lots of census to go through.
As you can tell we are very new to this so any help you can give us would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you very much.

I noticed you left flowers on my daddy and brothers memorial.
Clifford Strickland is my daddy and Wallace Fred Strickland is my brother. Pauline Strickland Ward is my mom. I noticed your last name doesn't end with a d. I know a number of Strickland's spell the name different. My daughter and I have been doing the genealogy on my daddys family. Are we by chance related? If so how? You can email me at: email@example.com
