Bio and Links
Bio Photo My mother was a life-long genealogist and from her I inherited my love of cemeteries. Whenever I travel I stop at cemeteries, especially when I am abroad. It interests me to see how a culture treats its dead. My favorite cemeteries are Cimitero Monumentale in Milan, Italy, Cimitero San Michele in Venice, Olsanske hrbitovy in Prague, Czech Republic, Župna Crkva Sv. Josipa, Croatia, and Alter Friedhof, Freiburg, Germany. There are a lot of cemeteries on my bucket list.

RE: John Grant Dean
We have made several trips back to Missouri and visited many, many cemeteries. Actually, seeing the grave makes the relationship and history of family SO REAL. My parents are buried at Spickard Masonic.

Information about the Burkes
Hi Suzanne,

I have a book I am reading for my own family research about Newkirk & the Cherokee Strip Run. I thought you might find it interesting (if you didn't already know) that Donald Burke's parents, W.F. & Louisa Burke, as well as several other Burkes, are mentioned as the first charter members of the Methodist Church. W.F. Burke was the reverend. This was before they had an official church building. They were meeting in an unfinished building directly east of the court house. The room had a cook stove & 2X8s laid out on nail kegs or boxes & barrels.

It also states Mary Burke served as organist for over 10 years.

Just thought you might find this interesting.

Thank you, -Ray

Headstone for Donald Burke
Hi Suzanne,

My name is Ray. Newkirk is my hometown although I live in FL now. I am going home to visit my parents in May & we will be visiting the cemetery for our own family research. My Dad has a plot listing so I will try to get your pic for you. I will get back to you one way or another in May.

Thank you, -Ray

Thank you for your corrections...

I get edit suggestions on findagrave where people, accidentally, link a child as spouse of their parent, etc., then, they send a correction..

Thanks, again

What a wonderful way to honor your late mother's memory! Freda is my 2nd cousin, 2x removed...her mother, Winnie Ferris Hickman Constable Reeder, was a 1st cousin 3x removed. Always fun to find "new" family members.
