RE: Barksdale/Laughman Family
Hello Rose,

Thank you for your message. I'm afraid you may have some trouble finding the book by James A. Barksdale as to my knowledge it was never published.
It was a homemade book of xeroxed pages and photos in a paper 3 ring binder. It was made for family members and I only received a copy because my Great Aunt Nora Barksdale Lee, was one of the family members interviewed by the writer.
All of the information on Samuel and Eva and their children in the "book", I put on the Find A Grave memorial.
The "book" deals with the children and descendants of William Hickerson Barksdale and his wife Catherine Goldsberry Barksdale. Samuel being one of their sons. The youngest son was my Gt. Grandfather Carson Barksdale.
All of the photos are very poor xeroxed copies. The photo of Samuel & Eva on Find A Grave was given to me by a cousin of my father. Please let me know if I can be of any additional help...Mike Barksdale

I am a descendant of both the Burlison and Hobson/Hopsons, on my dads side of the family. I do not understand what your saying in your message, about the information on Find a Grave about them is incorrect. Please explain.

Thank you for searching for this grave. There may never have been a headstone or it may be unreadable.
Thank you for all you do for Find a Grave.

RE: David Burleson
No problem. They are two different people. US Daughters of the War of 1812 has proven David Burleson in Texas. His birth and death dates are different than the David Burleson in Alabama and he is listed as the son of David and Ursula Burleson. Your info proves the David Burleson in Alabama. It appears they are both real people. I am presuming for now that the Texas David Burleson is the son of David and Ursula Burleson and the Alabama David Burleson is the son of John and Mary Burleson. I am basing this on the info I have seen, but I certainly could be wrong.

David Burleson
Hello, you posted a flower on David Burleson Jr.'s memorial ( that says he did not die in Texas, etc. The David Burleson you are referring to was the son of John Washington Burleson and his memorial may be found at Do you mind deleting your flower on David Burleson Jr.'s memorial so people do not get confused. I have to admit that it confused me! Thanks for the link to Fold3 with the War of 1812 soldier info for David Burleson. It is very helpful. Perhaps you could paste that link into a flower for your David Burleson who died in 1873 in Marion County, AL. I am a 6th great-grandson of David Burleson Sr. and 5th great-grandson of John Washington Burleson.

I don't recall where I found the death date. Some of my records have been lost to refer to. Sorry.

Best regards

RE: Martha Wells Reynolds
You are amazing, and I thank you for everything that you do for family history. I live in Cleveland, Ohio, and I dont get much chance to return to my roots in East Texas, even though I am, and always be, a true Texas gal!! I also come from the Bynum family...Kimmie Reynolds married Jasper Russell Bynum, and they had numerous children, including Harold Lee, my father. I would love to visit Abbeville, Alabama soon...its at the top of my bucket list, because so many of the Bynums and Reynolds lived there for years before they migrated to greener pastures in East Texas. We lived in Dallas for about 10 years, and unfortunately, never visited Camp and Cass know, small children, busy lives!! If you do ever find any more info on the Hollands, please let me know. My husband, Richard, is VERY involved with Find A Grave here in Cleveland...he's an obsessed, unpaid full-time volunteer for Woodland Cemetery in Cleveland...very historic with 85,000+ burials..Am sure that you two would get along famously. Anyway, thank you again. Kim Snyder
