Bio and Links
Bio Photo With much of my immediate family growing in and around the Washington D.C area for generations, I was never overly curious about family history. After a friend who was more interested than I found photos of relatives gravesites in other states who were born during the time of Andrew Jackson I was amazed. Even a marker for my grandmother's unnamed infant son which I had seen in home movies had been photographed by someone.
I am most familiar with DC area's, Holy Rood, Arlington Cemetery, Oak Hill and Cedar Hill Cemetery on Pennsylvania Avenue. I have taken many photos for my own enjoyment and for friends over the years, but realize others are often not so near.

Note also, feel free adding a photo to any of my memorials, as different time of day, light and opportunity may aid in clarity and appreciation to a loved one or researcher. The older photos on this site do not allow you to zoom in, plus digital cameras are much improved since the early 2000's.

Appreciate the photo you provided
Wow, I wanted to sincerely thank you for providing a photo of my ancestors' tombstone. I'd been to this cemetery, but hadn't found where the Wilsons were buried. Really appreciate your help.

George Carroll Reidy
Randy,
I spoke with the lady at Mt. Olivet Cemetery today. She told me George Carroll Reidy is buried in Section 15, Lot 1/4 lot 145.

My grandparents, Joseph and Lillian Panholzer are buried there also. Joseph is in Second 52, Lot 144W. Lillian Panholzer is buried in Section 42 Lot 144.

Two of their children are buried there: Joseph J Panholzer, buried in Old Section 10 and 11, and Helen Louise Panholzer, buried in Section 9, Lot 19-2.

The lady told me there were no markers for them.

Thanks,
Betty Dingess

George Carroll Reidy
George Carroll Reidy does not have the name Frederick, as far as I know. Would love the source of the name Frederick. He is my great grandfather.

GEORGE REIDY
Randy,
George Reidy is actually George Carroll Reidy, who I believe was born in 1846 or 47. He was my great grandfather. He was born in Ireland, but I do not know where. He married Mary Lucille Buckler from St. Mary's County, Maryland.

Is it possible to get a picture of the grave? Are you covering the whole cemetery, or are you related to George Reidy?

Thanks,

Hazel "Betty" Pixton Dingess

Mary C Connell
Hi, I have just seen your Find A Grave in Mt. Olivet Cemetery for Mary Catherine Connell. I am confused. This is my great aunt and I have already put her in the list of Connell's buried there. But She died in 1880 at 4 years of age.
The information about her birth date was correct,1876, the parents are correct, and the funeral was at St Aloysius. I have no record of the family living on E. St. Can you tell me what document you have or scan it to me? Hers is the only obituary that I don't have.
The Grave sight in Mt Olivet used to be full of tombstones and plaques. It was on a corner lot and when the last family burial was there in 1983. I remember my mother being very upset that the roads were being rerouted and that some of the stones were on the very edge of the ground. All that is left is a small ground plague with the names of the 3 little girls that had died in infancy or as toddlers and Mary Catherine was one of them.
Please send me a copy of the document you have that puts her at 20 yrs. One of us needs to reevaluate our information. My entry is just below yours in Find A Grave. I do appreciate the work that you and other Grave sight preservationists do. I just need clarification.
Thank you,
Carolyn Stone car.stone@comcast.net

What joy I feel from your contributions because Mary was a sister of my Great great grandfather Robert Joseph Dawson. Mary was incarcerated in a mental institution and Robert (174230594) had that twinkle in his eye! I will be editing (adding) my known relatives to Mary and her mother, Susanna, and brother William. I have been searching for info on Susanna's husband, William G. Dawson, Sr. and appreciate your comment that so far you have not found him buried at Holy Rood. I myself am from DC and went to Little Flower Elementary School, graduating in 1965 with a Mary Walsh and her non identical twin sister (forgot name). Oh should I have had this passion when I lived in Bethesda and waited for the DC transit bus on Wisconsin Ave near Tenley Circle! I never knew Holy Rood was there! Thanks for your sharing. Wow - thanks so much for the speedy response. I had not even looked for a Jameson marriage. So should I go with Lilly V. Jameson Pierce? Any luck with middle name? Thanks again!
