Bio and Links
Bio Photo Jan Bos is a police officer in his hometown Nijmegen in Holland. He is an amateur World War Two historian to the 82nd Airborne Division and Troop Carriers. The 82nd liberated Nijmegen during the so-called operation Market Garden, starting 17 September 1944. The paratroopers and glidermen from the 82nd Airborne Division could not do their job without the support of the crewmembers of the Troop Carrier transport planes, dropping the paratroopers and towing the CG-4A Waco gliders.

Am a member of the Historical Section of the National Liberation Museum in Groesbeek, Holland. Working on temporary American cemeteries in North Africa and Europe. Am also a member of the Groesbeek Airborne Friends.

Have adopted several graves at Margraten (Holland), Draguignan in southern France and Henri Chapelle (Belgium) Cemeteries.

Currently doing research about the invasion of Sicily. D-Day for operation Husky was 10 July 1943. Intend to write a book on the temporary American cemetery GELA on Sicily, where over 1,200 Americans were buried in the 1943-1944 period. The book was finished in the summer of 2015 and will be available on a DVD. The title:

I am still looking for the men's and women's pictures killed in Sicily during World War Two, all kind of data/reports and pictures of the individual graves of the Gela cemetery. Also pictures of their graves in the United States or in the Sicily Rome and Florence cemeteries in Europe.

Hi Jan,
I am so sorry I have not answered sooner but I have not been on this site in quite a few years. I am not related to this gentleman but I happen to live close to Beverly National Cemetery where he is buried. At the request of another person I went to the cemetery and took pictures of several veteran grave markers. If I can help in any way please let me know.

No need to give me credit, all I truly did was post some public information and take a photo of a tombstone. Use what you will...

Yes - feel free to use the photo. No credit necessary. I'm not a relative, however. There's a small group trying to expand the military memorials on findagrave. B

You are most welcome to use any photos taken by us. We happened upon this memorial in Boistfort, Washington one icy New Year's Eve while out taking photos for Find.A.Grave. I remember well the look of the day and coming upon this small town with a very nice memorial near an old school away from the cemetery we were looking for. I don't know any more - good luck with your search.

To you and your family, a Happy New Year.
