Bio

Find A Grave believes everyone deserves to be remembered equally and have built the site to support common alternative dispositions to traditional burial. This includes cremation, lost or buried at sea, and donated to medical science.

When should a memorial be assigned the designation "body lost or destroyed"?
This designation should be used when there is documentation and knowledge that the body has been lost or destroyed and its burial location is lost to history.

Location of body unknown is used for recent deaths where the disposition is not currently known. Final disposition must be determined and updated within 30 days.

With this in mind, going forward I will no longer link burial unknowns, however if you wish to link a burial unknown for memorials you have created please feel free to do so, but please remember Find a Grave guidelines of updating within 30 days.

Please use the 'EDIT' tab in the upper right hand corner of the memorial for all bios, duplicates, corrections, link additions, and transfer requests. It makes it easier and avoids confusion.

Transfer requests should be for direct relatives within four generations. This would be your siblings, parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Find A Grave FAQ's

REQUESTING TRANSFERS please use the edit tab, and the suggest a correction selection. Do not forget to add your member # to your request, as well as your relationship to the person memorialized. REQUESTS SUBMITTED ANY OTHER WAY WILL NOT BE HONORED!

To request a transfer we ask that you contact the manager of the memorial. Go to the memorial in question, click on 'Suggest Edits' and scroll down to the 'Contact Manager' button. Select it and type your message to the memorial manager. Be sure to include your relationship to the person and any other reason for the transfer request.

When sending suggestions/corrections please use the edit tab, and select the suggest a correction option to perform the updates.

If you find a memorial of a relative or friend you would like to maintain, and it's not my relative or a dear friend, we will be happy to transfer the memorial to you.

Thank you
