Bio and Links
Bio Photo Hi! My name is Bettie Anne Jones. I am a retired school librarian (43 years service) living in Pasadena, Texas. I was born in Teague, Freestone County, Texas, and grew up in Mexia, Limestone County, Texas. My parents were John Preston Jones and Ella Davis Dozier Jones. I enjoy reading and needlework, particularly counted cross stitch. Since I found this website, I have found the listings of a number of my relatives. I want to add many more with photos in the hope I will locate some their descendents.

Just one more thing .....
I'm just letting ya know my plans changed when I went to the West P.o. today and I needed to make U aware "just in case" U might try and work up a trip to Mexia Friday.
Stupid me thought renewing my passport would be as simple as purchasing stamps, wrong !!!!
Appointment only, so, I have to be there at 9 am Friday, making it impossible to be @ Mexia around 10 am. I'd really be upset with myself if U found a way to make the trip and then I was a no show.
So thanks for trying and maybe one day we can pull off a meeting.
And again, there is now way that I could have photographed the cemetery if U had not entered the info first. Some of the markers are basically unreadable now but I was able to match a few letters and words with the database and identify the people, that was an enormous help.
Ok, later, James Coston

Mexia
I understand, not a problem.
Well aware the pitfalls of getting old.
I am 70 and given the heat and humidity, I should have waited until Fall to go stomping around the cemetery cause I am normally there between 2-3 hours.
I'm gone ....

Mexia Cemetery
Evening Bettie Anne,
I have a quick meet & greet idea to run by ya.
Tomorrow I am going to West to renew my passport.
Thursday I will be glued to Jim Comeys congressional open words to the Congress.
Friday, I will be at the cemetery at 10 am to start photographing sections U,V,W & X which is just North of the maintenance building in case U are not familiar with the layout. I have to catch the markers before noon because at that time, the sun will cast a shadow on the East side and my cheap Wal-mart camera has problems adjusting between the two, light & dark, sunlite is necessary.
Here is the situation:
When I started this project, it was more massive than I imagined. The foto taken ration was at 51% and as of today, it jumped to 84%.
I could -NOT- have gotten this far (I would have given up by now) if not for the entries that U put in years ago & I really would like to thank ya personally for the work that U have done.
Two things U need to know if U decide to come out:
1. I will not have my dog, Precious, with me because I will head into town around noon for lunch and I can't leave her in a hot car.
2. I will be armed, I have a carry license and it will be exposed. Obivously I am not a threat because the State of Texas issued it 15 years ago, that bothers some people so I am making U aware of that situation.
If U feel like coming out, we can chat at the cemetery or go for lunch, your choice.
If U are not comfortable meeting an unknown male stranger in a cemetery, bring a friend, your choice, won't offend me a bit.
No need to reply, just appear or not, I simply would just like to meet U because U made my project so much simpler & a lot of fun since I did not need to do the paperwork, HA. !!!!
I'm gone, James Coston

Mexia City cemetery
Bettie Anne, for purposes of explaining what a good job U did in entering listings in earlier years, which have been invaluable to my follow-up of posting fotos to your entries, I direct your attention to John H. Gullett, Feb 1 1880 to May 1888, memorial # 67573419.
The marker has deteriorated so badly over the years that I couldn't decipher the info on my fotos. Having picked out a couple of definate items, I was able to do a search and find your original entry, so now your entry has the fotos to back it up . . . . .
There have been quite a few that would remain unknown and therefore not posted had it not been for your work years ago.
THANK YOU !!!! 77% complete and climbing,

Mexia Cemetery
Evening Bettie Anne,
I need to let ya know what I am trying to do at Mexia City cemetery so U don't wonder about the frequency of corrections/additions that may possibly come your way.
And, the other side of the coin, if U wish me -not- to send them, let me know and I'll approach it another way so as not to bother ya.
My project is to locate as many entries as possible that do not have a foto and to provide said fotos and other pertainant information.
Marriages and birth/death info require an entry from the originator but other things can be added simply by a foto with a text message, which is what I tend to go for.
Anyway, when I started this project, the completion rate was at 51%, as of yesterday, it is now 65%. I realize that given new entries and unmarked graves, it will never be 100% but I'm gonna give it my best shot.
The reason that I am letting ya know is that U have the majority of entries dating back to 2011
and if U don't wish to bother with "automatic edits" then I'll take another route.
Later, James Coston
