My ROSE ancestors have been here since 1653, When William Rose, a headright to John Knott came from England (Darbyshire ?), to Surry County Virginia. His date of birth year was 1622. My GG Grandfather William ROSE arrived in Mississippi in 1836 to settle near Hays Creek near Winona, Mississippi. My grandmother KING introduced the Indian blood in the 1890's when she married my Grandfather, she was 1/8th Choctaw. Great grand daughter of Moshulatubbee King, last elected Choctaw Chief of the Nation East of the Mississippi River. My maternal grandparents were PULLEN and CARSON of South Carolina and settled near Minerva, Mississippi in the early 1840's. (a headright is a white slave, thousands were sent from England and Ireland in the 15th and 16th century to the Americas for labor.

RE: Edith and JW
Fred, I do not know the year. I talked to my dad and he states the pic is of "Will". The findagrave says "Willie" but he said he met him just before he died in the 30's when he was young. He did die in 1936, He also showed me some legal docs showing "Will" had 9 children. Two missing are: Tommie L Rose and John F. Rose. He also said there are two cemeteries with almost the same name.

Howard's Duck Hill
Mr.Rose
I am looking for Howard's from Duck Hill Area.
After several Years and no luck. I couldn't help but notice that the Rose Family had so many of the
same names that we do. My great grand father is James R Howard born 1879 in Carroll or Mont. County, Ms. Married to Della McCaulla. Their children are. Alma, Alice, Eugene, Stanley, Lillian, Douglas, Monthield, and Myrtis. I saw a
James Howard Rose 1932-2001. And a John Henry Howard, not sure if any are connected to your Rose family. If you have any information about any Howard's that are part of the Rose's from the Carroll/Montgomery counties. I would greatly appreciate any leads that you may have.
Thank You for your time

RE: Edith and JW
I do not know. He looks heavier than the picture you posted and Edith looks to be in her 50's(?).

I will check with my Dad to see what he knows.Since my dad was born in 1930, he did not obviously know him.

RE: pollan
Hi - I have been a way, extremely ill, and don't know if I ever responded to your request about Pollens in the cemetery in Ft Smith cemetery. in 2013.

The cemetery is very large, but in the general area of the Pollens, I did not see any others.

It however is a very overwhelming cemetery, using levels to very up the landscaping, making it also difficult to see past a row or two, too.

When we went, the only thing we knew for certain - or rather last information we had - was that my relative we buried at the cemetery. I hope this is no longer needed and you've found what for what you needed by now.

RE: monte vista ms
Hi Fred,
Yes indeed. I know what you mean. Sometimes I ask for photos when I'm looking at the memorials without thinking about the cold weather. I sure don't want you to get out in it, it's just tooooo cold now.
Thanks,
Ruby
