Simeon Getchell Lyon
In your BIO you stated that you were related to most of the memorials that you had created. I see that you have added a photo to Simeon Lyon's memorial #17988713 where his ashes are in the Chapel of the Chimes Columbarium & Mausoleum. Are you related to Simeon? Do you know if his wife is in the same place? Her name was Hannah Elizabeth Sedgley Lyon.

Thank you for your help..............

Hi Honey,

I'm sorry but I can't help you. I live in Atascadero, California. I indexed this cemetery when I was on vacation to attend my Estill family reunion. I saw that so many of the cemeteries in Howard County weren't documented that I tried to do my best by photographing as many as I could. The Wood's cemetery is completely engulfed in a grove of trees. My husband & I went into the grove but with every step we took we could feel headstones underneath us. We were afraid of causing even more damage. So we left. I went to the Howard County Genealogy Society and they had a book called the "Howard County Cemetery Book". I took all the names in the book for the Wood's Cemetery & listed them on findagrave. The president of the Genealogy Society, Harold Kerr, went there recently and said the cemetery is in horrible shape. Most of the headstones will need to be dug up. And there are even more unmarked residents that we'll never know what happened to.

When I went in 2014 there were headstones still standing erect but my husband & I we're afraid of damaging others. Alexander was very affluent. One of the headstones that we saw erect was probably his.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help!

Is this Minnie E. Waggoner the wife of William Paris Waggoner, and are you sure of her death date?

Mariah Zeigler
Greetings Ms. Lanham Dodge,
I have been working on the Zeigler/Dent lines of a friend and am so tremendously impressed with your research. I was curious as to your thoughts on Mariah Zeigler (born c. 1815) who is listed as a child of Jacob and Catherine Zeigler in many records. I came across a biography of Lewis Henry Crumpler that was published in 1904 in "Notable Men of Alabama."

It reads as follows:
"In his early manhood, he married Maria Zeigler, daughter of Nicholas and Catharine (Speigner) Zeigler, who lived near Washington, Autauga county, at a place called "Dutch Bend." Nicholas Zeigler was born of German parents, in South Carolina."

I cannot find anything that supports Mariah being the child of Nicholas and Catherine aside from this brief biography. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,
Josh Nichols

RE: Hannah Wagoner
Hello!

Thanks for the update. Hannah Wagoner is actually a relative of my son's. I'd be glad to take it over. I'm now traveling so may be able to contribute photos.

Thanks,
Sue

The dates for James Harvey Crosby does not line up with the tombstone. I appreciate all that you do for all of us, but there must be some kind of mistake. Please let me know what you find out. Sincerely
